Alonso: "Ik wil alle iconische races op deze wereld winnen"

Fernando Alonso heeft zichzelf een doelstelling meegegeven voor zijn carrière buiten de Formule 1. Daarnaast merkt de McLaren-coureur dat hij sinds de aankondiging van zijn vertrek sentimenteler en emotioneler geworden is.

In de zomerstop maakte Alonso bekend dat hij per 2019 de Formule 1 verlaat. De tweevoudig wereldkampioen heeft sindsdien geen aankondigingen gedaan over zijn toekomst. Hij zal in ieder geval tot half 2019 het World Endurance Championship afmaken. Verder wordt verwacht dat Alonso in 2019 in de IndyCar Series in actie komt.

Het besef over het naderende vertrek begint nu bij Alonso in te zinken, zo vertelde hij aan CNN. "Ik merkte op dat ik nu de paraderondes met mijn telefoon opneem. Dat heb ik nooit eerder gedaan, maar ik wil nu van alle races herinneringen verzamelen. Sinds augustus, toen ik mijn vertrek aankondigde, is elke race emotioneler geweest voor mij dan voorheen. Elke coureursparade en elk moment met de fans voelt anders, en het wordt nog zwaarder."

Ondanks de onzekerheid over zijn toekomst is Alonso vol vertrouwen over het bereiken van zijn doelen buiten de Formule 1. "Ik heb veel meer bereikt dan waar ik vooraf van heb gedroomd. Ik denk dat dit het juiste moment is om te gaan, want er zijn een aantal uitdagingen buiten de Formule 1 waar ik erg veel interesse in heb. Mijn idee is om alle iconische autosportraces op deze wereld te winnen."

    Ik ga duimen dat hij de "bricks" kan kussen als hij ook met NASCAR mee gaat rijden volgend jaar. Anders zou ik dat filmpje met Jimmy J. niet snappen.

      Ja dat was niet voor niks, bij Alonso zit er altijd wel wat achter. Je kan erop wachten dat ie een keer NASCAR gaat testen . De Bathurst hoort er ook wel bij vind ik. Alleen vanwege dat supergave circuit.

      Zoefroef... Neh schumi niet... die bedacht alleen maar simpele oplossingen als een drive through in de laatste ronde te nemen... of Hill eraf te crashen voor een titel...

      Schumacher had echt een deel in zijn activiteiten, Alonso en Singapore was totaal los van elkaar en volledig het idee van Briatore.

      Misschien dat hij het niet specifiek heeft gezegd, maar ik denk dat hij befoelde elke iconische autorace.

      Dus dan gaan we hem ook zien in een toerwagen in Macau.
      Duinen happen in le Dakar (ik ben persoonlijk nogsteeds van mening dat de enige echte toch echt Parijs-Dakar is en niet inzuidamerika)
      Bathurst
      Pikes Peak (hoe zou een ongelimiteerde F1 presteren? Zeker met die Turbo en elektriciteit.)
      Jammer dat de Mille Miglia niet meer is.
      Diverse iconische rally’s, tour de corse, rac, akropolis, monte carlo
      WRX, rallycrossen.
      Daytona, Indy500, etc, etc, etc

    Wat een ijdel mannetje is het ook... Gun het hem overigens wel, pak die triple Fernando. Zal zeker voor je juichen.

    Topcoureur, helaas lijkt hij wat te missen aan de sociale kant, anders was hij wellicht wel 6 of meer keer F1 WC geweest.

    Ik ben van mening dat in tegenstelling tot veel andere getalenteerde coureurs, hij het helaas voor zichzelf verknalt heeft vaker wereldkampioen te zijn.
