Magnussen: "COTA een van de weinige nieuwe circuits waar ik van geniet"

Haas F1 Team en Kevin Magnussen rijden volgende week een thuisrace tijdens de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten. Het Circuit of the Americas is een van de weinige nieuwe circuits die de Deen wel kan bekoren, zo gaf hij in zijn voorbeschouwing op de race aan.

Magnussen merkt dat er extra motivatie is binnen Haas om een goed resultaat te pakken in Austin. "Er is absoluut extra wil en motivatie om het goed te doen in de Verenigde Staten. We doen altijd ons best en we geven altijd alles voor het maximale resultaat. Het is alleen iets belangrijker om een goed resultaat te pakken in de VS en tijdens onze thuisrace. Amerika is natuurlijk niet mijn thuisland, maar zo voelt het wel als we daar racen."

Magnussen zelf is een liefhebber van het COTA, in tegenstelling tot de meeste nieuwe circuits op de kalender. "Ik zou zeggen dat het Circuit of the Americas een van de weinige nieuwe circuits is waar ik van geniet. De eerste sector is geweldig en er zijn ook een aantal plekken waar je goed kan inhalen en slipstreamen. Ik denk dat daar een goede mix van is. Misschien zijn er wat te veel uitloopstroken, wat te veilig is naar mijn mening, maar het circuit zelf is geweldig."
