Perez vindt Austin en Mexico zijn belangrijkste races van het jaar

Deze week staat de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten op het programma, direct gevolgd door de Grand Prix van Mexico. Voor Racing Point Force India-coureur Sergio Perez zijn dit de belangrijkste races van het seizoen voor hem.

"Het zijn grote races voor mij", vertelde de Mexicaan aan RaceFans. "Vooral omdat ze dicht bij huis zijn." De Mexicaan is afkomstig uit Guadalajara dat 460 kilometer van Mexico City ligt. "Al mijn familie woont nog daar."

De voormalig teamgenoot van Giedo van der Garde gaat verder: "Ik race zo ver van Mexico dat, wanneer ik terug ben, ik behoorlijk moe ben van de verre reizen en afstanden die ik moet afleggen. Daarom is het fijn om twee races te hebben waarbij ik relatief dicht bij huis ben. Dus de steun en de motivatie zijn heel erg groot voor die twee races."

Ondanks dat de Mexicaanse Grand Prix sinds 2015 weer op de kalender staat zijn er volgens Perez veel Mexicanen te vinden tijdens de Grand Prix op COTA. "Er zijn veel Mexicanen, de afstand tussen de Amerikaanse grens en steden als Monterrey en Chihuahua is relatief kort. Ik houd ook van Austin, het is een zeer uitdagend circuit. In de kwalificatie is het altijd enorm uitdagend. Mexico is ook een uitdaging, want met de lage downforce die we hebben door de hoogte, is het een hele uitdaging om alles voor elkaar te krijgen."

Tja lijkt me logische een thuisrace en een race in Texas, ook ooit nog een deel van Mexico.. ha ha..

We zullen zien of Perez erin zal slagen om best of the rest te worden. Als ik hem zie rijden dan vind ik dat hij met name ten opzichte van zijn teammaat Ocon te agressief rijdt en ze zijn allebei geneigd en bereid om de ander een muur in te rijden. Beide circuits zijn voor vele rijders favoriet. Hamilton moet winnen om de WK titel te verzilveren en dan moet hij zijn teammaat Bottas aansporen om de buffer te vormen voor Vettel. Vettel wil zijn laatste kansje op de titel aangrijpen om te scoren. Beide Red Bull mannen staan te popelen om nog iets te laten zien en mee te doen voor het podium en nu laten ook de mindere rijders van het middenveld zich in de media horen. Ik denk dat Hamilton de titel snel beslist wil hebben en wint op COTA.
