McLaren en Alonso gaan na dit weekend uit elkaar, maar dat betekent niet dat er helemaal geen contact meer zal zijn tussen de twee. Volgens teambaas Zak Brwon is Alonso de eerste die wordt gebeld, wanneer er een coureur nodig is.

"Het is zeker een mogelijkheid dat Alonso terugkeert. Als er iets gebeurt en we hebben een coureur nodig, dan staat Alonso bij ons op de telefoon onder de sneltoets. Het hangt er vanaf welke andere verplichtingen hij heeft."

"Als er tenminste geen conflicten zijn in de agenda's. We zullen niet aarzelen wanneer we een coureur nodig hebben. Fernando gaat dan de eerste zijn die we bellen."
