Gisteren werd bekendgemaakt dat Robert Kubica in 2019 gaat rijden voor het team van Williams en daar is de Pool vanzelfsprekend blij mee. Hij heeft er de laatste jaren hard voor moeten werken, maar het resultaat is er uiteindelijk dus wel naar.

"Het is een mooie uitdaging om in 2019 weer aanwezig te zijn op de grid, aangezien de weg terug lang voor me was. Na mijn ongeluk in 2011, waren het acht lange jaren revalideren. Dat is een lange tijd zonder racen, maar er is veel gebeurd. Niet alleen maar positieve dingen, ook negatieve dingen."

"Dit contract is voor mij daarom een grote prestatie om bij Williams weer te kunnen racen, één van de beste prestaties in mijn leven. Ik kijk er erg naar uit om te starten. Het is allemaal een echte uitdaging geweest en het komende jaar zal net zo zwaar worden. Ik ben klaar om te vechten voor mijn plek. George en ik gaan hard werken met het team, zodat we het beste resultaat kunnen behalen."
