Hockenheim maakt zich geen zorgen over Nederlandse Grand Prix

Een official van de Duitse Grand Prix zegt dat hij zich geen zorgen maakt over het nieuws dat Nederland weer eens een Formule 1-race zou kunnen gaan organiseren. De Telegraaf meldt dat de gesprekken tussen Zandvoort en Liberty Media zich in een vergevorderd stadium bevinden en de race zou in mei 2020 moeten gaan plaatsvinden. 

Een race in Nederland betekent voor Hockenheim echter Europese concurrentie, vooral omdat veel Nederlandse fans nu bijvoorbeeld naar Duitsland gaan om Max Verstappen te kunnen aanschouwen. Hockenheim's marketingbaas Jorn Teske houdt echter vol dat hij zich geen zorgen maakt.

"De Hockenheimring is erg speciaal en ik denk dat veel Nederlandse Formule 1-fans beide wedstrijden zullen bezoeken." Hoe dan ook denkt Teske dat de nieuwigheid er na een tijdje sowieso wel vanaf gaat. "In het begin zullen veel mensen er heen gaan, omdat het speciaal is en omdat de race na zoveel jaar terugkeert."

"Maar uiteindelijk verdwijnt die nieuwigheid. Kijk maar naar Oostenrijk. Daar werd het succes ook steeds minder." Daarnaast wil Teske de Nederlandse officials waarschuwen dat ze niet teveel moeten vertrouwen op het 'Max Verstappen-effect'. "Het is gevaarlijk wanneer het succes van een evenement afhankelijk is van één rijder."

Bwoah. In de Moto GP rijden helaas ook al jaaaaaren geen Nederlandse toppers mee, en toch is de TT altijd stijf uitverkocht op racedag met 105.000 bezoekoers.

    Bwoah. In de Moto GP rijden helaas ook al jaaaaaren geen Nederlandse toppers mee, en toch is de TT altijd stijf uitverkocht op racedag met 105.000 bezoekoers.

      Klopt, echter is het prijsverschil tussen een kaartje voor de TT en de F1 natuurlijk ook behoorlijk groot ;)

      Maar we weten allemaal best dat de populariteit van F1 in Nederland veel lager was voordat Verstappen in de F1 reed en het meerendeel van het huidige publiek is gekomen in mei 2016. De Nederlandse fanbases van beide klasses zijn compleet anders opgebouwd.

      Verder is de TT als evenement natuurlijk gewoon een klassieker, waar veel mensen ieder jaar heen gaan die verder helemaal niks met Motors of racen hebben.

      Ken zelf al 4 vriendengroepen die elk jaar paraat zijn, waarvan de meesten vooral geïnteresseerd zijn in feest en bier.

      @Schumix: Ik denk juist dat er met name vanuit Scandinavie (3 coureurs) en vanuit het noorden van Duitsland veel publiek naar Assen zou komen want dat is voor hun veel dichterbij.
      Als je in Noord Duitsland woont is Assen een veel kleinere afstand als helemaal rijden naar het uiterste zuiden naar Hockenheim.

      @Schwantz34 . klopt en dat geld helemaal voor de GP F1 van Nederland . Ik kan het me nog heel goed herinneren en voor mijn gevoel zat hij altijd behoorlijk vol ook zonder Nederlandse courreurs .

      Als je vanuit Scandinavie komt rijden en er al 1000km op hebt zitten, maakt die extra 270 km naar Hockenheim ook nog maar weinig uit, naar Zandvoort is het 180km extra.

      Hamburg - Assen is 311km
      Hamburg - Hockenheimring is 581 km
      Hamburg - Zandvoort is 494 km

      (Gothenborg - Hamburg is ook al 640 km, Stockholm - Hamburg 981 km)

    Ik denk dat veel koninginnedag publiek naar Zandvoort gaat. Mensen die ook bij het EK vrouwenvoetbal op de tribune zitten als de vrouwen het goed doen. Niks mis mee overigens. Maar de wat meer liefhebbers maken er een weekend in oostenrijk, silverstone of Hockenheim van. Denk alleen dat Spa wel last gaat krijgen.

      En waarschijnlijk is een weekendje Oostenrijk of Duitsland goedkoper dan een dagje Zandvoort.
      Ook kans, zeker het eerste jaar, dat een hoop bedrijven het gebruiken als PR. Even met de goede klanten een dagje er naar toe. Dan maakt de prijs niet veel uit want de belasting betaald mee. En dan zijn de goede plaatsen onbetaalbaar voor de echte fans.
