Hamilton houdt de toekomst van de sport scherp in de gaten

Lewis Hamilton is er meer door gefascineerd om iets nieuws te gaan leren, dan voor de makkelijke optie te gaan door in de Formule 1 te blijven nadat hij is gestopt met racen. Hamilton wil voorlopig echter voorlopig nog niet denken aan het moment dat hij stopt.

"Ik weet niet echt wat ik na de Formule 1 ga doen. Net als veel andere sporters heb ik deze sport mijn hele leven gedaan, wanneer ik ermee stop. In mijn vrije tijd ben ik aan het proberen om uit te zoeken wat ik nog meer wil doen", aldus de Engelsman.

"Uiteraard is het ongelooflijk makkelijk voor me om naar alle Grands Prix te komen nadat ik gestopt ben. Ik zou zelfs wellicht de nummer 2 achter Toto Wolff kunnen zijn. Ik rijd hier nu al jaren en ik ken het hier beter dan wie dan ook. Maar ik ben meer gefascineerd om iets nieuws te leren."

"In 2021 gaan de regels enorm veranderen. De Formule 1 maakt door het nieuwe management een beetje een dynamische verschuiving mee. De teams zijn het erover eens dat we op een punt zijn gekomen dat we opnieuw moeten gaan onderhandelen. Dus ik houd in de gaten wat er in de toekomst gaat gebeuren."
