Formule 1-teams maken zich zorgen over Brexit

De Formule 1-teams hebben toegegeven dat zij zich zorgen maken over de Brexit-crisis die op dit moment gaande is in Groot Brittannië. De Britten zouden de EU gaan verlaten, maar het proces daarnaartoe verloopt stroef. De meeste Formule 1-teams, waaronder Mercedes en Red Bull Racing zijn gevestigd in Engeland.

"We houden de situatie nauwlettend in de gaten, omdat we in het Verenigd Koninkrijk een grote operatie hebben. We hebben mensen in de EU die voor ons werken, we importeren veel goederen uit de EU en we hebben maatregelen genomen om ervoor te zorgen dat ze niet vastzitten aan de grens. Over het geheel genomen is dit geen prettige ontwikkeling", zegt Mercedes-teambaas Wolff.

"We hebben ons de afgelopen jaren zeer snel ontwikkeld en dat is met name te danken aan de mogelijkheden die het Verenigd Koninkrijk biedt, door jongeren en mensen die van school komen, binnen te halen en dat willen we niet veranderen. Dat zou dramatisch zijn", zegt Renault-teambaas Cyril Abiteboul.

"Het is duidelijk dat mensen zaken zullen blijven doen met het Verenigd Koninkrijk, wanneer we concurrerend zijn en goed blijven in wat we doen. Er is op dit moment duidelijk wat onrust gaande, maar in de komende weken en maanden zal er een oplossing gevonden worden", klinkt Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner overtuigd.

Ferrari-teambaas Maurizio Arrivabene ziet zelfs wat voordelen. "Als alles in de richting gaat die op dit moment wordt aangekondigd, vermoed ik dat er in de nabije toekomst veel mensen op de deur van Maranello zullen kloppen. Maar als we het over de Formule 1 in zijn geheel hebben, is het niet echt het beste scenario. Dus ik hoop dat ze een oplossing vinden."

Dit zal ook logistiek flinke consequenties hebben. Want voor races binnen Europa kon men voorheen gewoon een vliegtuig pakken en de spullen uitladen. Elke verandering is iets met zorgen en kansen. Maar een harde Brexit zal hoe dan ook nadelig zijn (want tijd, geld en resources kosten). De teams buiten het VK gaan daar dan van profiteren. Part of the game.

tja enegeland heeft gestemd en de brexit is een haast voldongen feit, nu kan je ervan uitgaan dat zowel de harde brexit of de zachte direct en indirect consequenties zal hebben, de harde Brexit direct en de zachte Brexit op termijn. dus ik verwacht dat er veel zullen vertrekken uit Engeland en meer naar de standplaatsen van de teams zullen gaan.

en dit is slechts een begin want onverwijld zal ook alle technische know-how verdwijnen, daar waar met name Engeland een voorsprong heeft in de automotive industrie zal dit gaan afnemen omdat een koste bate analyse laat zien dat dit zich niet laat terug betalen in de algemene kosten van de auto industrie!

Heel jammer maar zoals in verleden zal er een oplossing gevonden worden en de industrie zal zich gaan aanpassen, het is niet anders. overigens het zal de complete in en export drastisch onder druk zetten voor heel Engeland en ik denk dat veel britten zich dit niet realiseren

Zeker niet als je last minute nog onderdelen wilt laten invliegen, zoals nu nog wel gebeurt.
  
  Het zou me dan ook niet verbazen dat teams inderdaad op het Europese vaste land productiecapaciteit gaan inrichten en aktiviteiten overhevelen vanuit Engeland.

  @Dutch: GB is toch wel zo ongeveer de bakermat van de motor-/autosport..... Daarom zitten ze allemaal daar......
  Maar goed, je kunt je vestiging hebben in een Brexit-land of in een Corrupt Italië.... wat maakt het uit..... Of je gaat naar Zwitserland en laat je je omringen door de hele EU, maar in feit trek je je nergens wat van aan ;)

  Tegenwoordig is de F1 wel een iets grotere logistieke operatie dan toen, bovendien telde de kalender begin 90er jaren nog slechts 16 races waarvan zo'n 3/4 in Europa
