Honda: "Verstandiger om personeelsbestand uit te breiden na komst Red Bull"

Honda levert in 2019 voor het eerst sinds 2008 weer motoren aan twee teams. Dat heeft gevolgen voor het Japanse merk, want ze gaan in de fabriek en op het circuit hun mankracht uitbreiden.

In 2015 keerde Honda terug in de Formule 1 bij McLaren en sinds 2018 leveren de Japanners motoren aan Scuderia Toro Rosso. Per 2019 voegt het ook Red Bull Racing aan haar portefeuille toe. Om het leveren van motoren aan twee teams in goede banen te laten leiden, moet het personeelsbestand van Honda vergroot worden. Volgens motorsportbaas Masashi Yamamoto is dit dan ook de focus geweest in het laatste deel van 2018, zo vertelde hij aan Motorsport.com

"We breiden onze mankracht in de fabriek natuurlijk uit. Ook op de circuits zullen we twee keer zoveel mensen hebben volgend jaar. We moeten een tweede team samenstellen voor de racemotoren. Voor een aantal werkzaamheden kunnen we mensen bij beide teams hebben lopen, maar het heeft geen zin om iedereen dubbel werk te laten doen. Op die manier verliezen we ons specialisme, dus het is verstandiger om meer mensen te hebben."

Red Bull en Toro Rosso maken in 2019 gebruik van dezelfde versnellingsbak en achterwielophanging. Volgens Toyoharu Tanabe is dat een groot voordeel voor Honda. "We hoeven niet met twee afzonderlijke teams te communiceren en ze zullen ons afzonderlijk ook minder dingen vragen. Dat gaat niet gebeuren. Natuurlijk hebben ze een iets ander ontwerp en moeten we ons aanpassen naar beide teams, maar de specificaties zijn niet heel erg anders."

"Theoretisch gezien hebben we twee keer zoveel data", vervolgt Tanabe. "Niet alleen op het circuit, maar ook in de ontwikkeling. We hebben nu een ander team met een andere filosofie en een andere manier van werken, vooral op het circuit. We krijgen meer informatie en kennis van een ander team. Dat is een groot voordeel voor ons."

  Topsnelheid kunnen ze nog wel krijgen met een 4-cilinder. Vleugels eraf en klaar. De combinatie van maximaal grip en dan de juiste versnellingsbak/motor karakterstiek is veel belangrijker.
  Ook 1 van de redenen waarom Honda op dit moment een aantal versnellingsbakken van RB heeft. Ze moeten met 1 verhouding het gehele seizoen rijden, ook al heb je in het begin van het seizoen minder vermogen dan aan het einde van het seizoen.

  Dat het niks wordt lijkt me sterk maar de eerlijkheid gebied wel te zeggen dat er de laatste dagen/uren her en der verkondigd wordt dat er grote problemen bij Honda zijn.
  Zo zou er ruzie zijn tussen Honda en partners en zou de Honda het probleem met de vibraties niet opgelost krijgen.
  Echter zou dit gaan om vibraties bij maximaal vermogen dus het is onduidelijk wat dat betekent. Is dat als er 999 pk vrijkomt? Of als er 935 pk vrijkomt? Maakt ook nog verschil.
  Wel heeft Marko beaamd dat er intern ruzie is tussen bepaalde mensen.

  Geloof het maar niet. Ham wil Max niet naast zich, want dan kan hij niet meer schitteren. Bovendien, die 2 krijgen binnen de korste keren ruzie, want je denkt toch niet dat max in dienst van Ham gaat rijden!
