Alonso benoemt zijn prestaties die hem het meest trots maken

Fernando Alonso zegt dat het hem trots maakt dat hij de Formule 1 in Spanje groot heeft gemaakt. Daarnaast laat hij weten dat hij de Premio Principe de Asturias, die hij in 2005 won, als zijn grootste prestatie van zijn carrière ziet.

"Ik ben erg trots. Wanneer je ziet hoeveel mensen in Spanje de sport momenteel volgen, bijvoorbeeld in mijn regio Asturië en hoeveel mensen reizen om het museum in Oviedo te bezoeken of om voor het eerst te karten. Dan denk ik dat je het na verloop van tijd pas allemaal beseft."

"Veel mensen begonnen de autosport en motorsport in Spanje te volgen en dat was absoluut geen traditie. In Spanje werden de races in 2001 en 2002 niet uitgezonden en ik denk dat het pas begon halverwege 2003. Dat is nu ondenkbaar, aangezien het op dit moment de tweede of derde sport van Spanje is en dat is iets waar ik erg trots op ben."

In 2005 werd Alonso bekroond met de Premio Principe de Asturias, gegeven voor zijn belangrijke verdiensten in de wetenschap, menswetenschappen, openbare zaken, sport en voor het behalen van zijn eerste Formule 1-wereldtitel en hij waardeert die prijs nog steeds meer dan alle andere.

"De Premio Principe de Asturias is waarschijnlijk het grootste ding dat ik heb bereikt, zelfs meer dan welke Formule 1-wereldtitel dan ook. Deze onderscheiding gaat over het veranderen van het leven van mensen en het introduceren van veel mensen in een sport. Dus zulke dingen zijn veel grootser dan welke prijs dan ook."

  Dat Alonso een nationale ereprijs als grootste prestatie noemt, maar verstappen nieteens de moeite doet om te komen wanneer hij sportman van het jaar 2016 wint.

Alonso heeft destijds in Spanje teweeg gebracht, wat Max momenteel in Nederland teweeg brengt. Het geeft aan wat succes teweeg kan brengen.

Heb ooit nog stille hoop dat hij een rentree in de F1 maakt, ik was groot fan van de coureur Alonso.
Ben alleen bang dat het ijdele hoop is.

  BELF1 ; dat zie ik alleen gebeuren als Vettel "weer" niet slaagt. Maar ik denk niet dat Alonso weer bij Ferrari terecht komt.

  Zo is altijd geweest..
  Schumacher bracht het naar Duitsland, in Finland was Hakkinen waarschijnlijk populairder dan alle pop sterren bij elkaar, Kimi heeft het zelfs tot Japan geschopt. In Rusland gingen ze niet eens wachten op grote resultaten en gelijk maar een racetrack in Sochi gebouwd voor een paar miljoen, althans, het voelde voor hun iig als een paar miljoen. Zo gaat het altijd. Ik hoop echt dat we binnenkort ook in NL live kunnen genieten dan.
