Perez: "Sauber wordt een team om rekening mee te houden"

Racing Point-coureur Sergio Perez zegt dat het team van Sauber wel eens een team zou kunnen zijn die in de gaten moet worden gehouden in 2019. Het Zwitserse team heeft gestaag vooruitgang geboekt richting het middenveld van de grid en de Mexicaan denkt dat Sauber wel eens de verrassing van het seizoen kan worden.

Sauber raakte voor het komende seizoen Charles Leclerc kwijt, maar daar kreeg het voormalig Ferrari-coureur Kimi Raikkonen voor in de plaats.

Voormalig Sauber-coureur Perez belicht dat zijn oude team de juiste richting op gaat en verwacht dat ze tijdens het testen en in Melbourne wel een zouden kunnen verrassen.

"Sauber is een geweldig team. Ze gingen gedurende een aantal jaren door een moeilijke periode, maar ik denk dat ze nu weer aan het terugkomen zijn door hun relatie met Ferrari", zegt Perez tegenover Autosport.

"Je ziet dat Frederic Vasseur een geweldige leider van het team is en ik denk dat ze grote vooruitgang boeken. Ze zijn zonder enige twijfel een team om rekening mee te houden. Ze zullen aardig hoog gaan eindigen en daar kijk ik eigenlijk wel naar uit."

Volgens mij is het niet toegestaan om meer onderdelen te delen dan Haas op dit moment doet met Ferrari. Gene Haas heeft al meerdere keren aangegeven alles in te kopen wat volgens de regelementen is toegestaan.

    Denk dat sauber nog meer onderdelen krijgt van Ferrari dan Haas en ze vallen onder de fiat groep dus het is belangrijk dat ze zo ver mogelijk vooraan rijden .

      Volgens mij is het niet toegestaan om meer onderdelen te delen dan Haas op dit moment doet met Ferrari. Gene Haas heeft al meerdere keren aangegeven alles in te kopen wat volgens de regelementen is toegestaan.

    Mooi voor de rode bolides, dan kunnen de Saubers op hogere plaatsen de concurrenten etteren. Net zo als de Force India's dat ''niet deden'' voor de Mercedessen.

      Goed gezien van jou.
      Ferrari en MB hebben elk 2 test teams.
      Renault en RBR Honda elk 1.
      Gaat gezellig worden daar in Monaco.
      En dan zijn er nog hier op het forum die de blauwe vlag willen afschaffen.
      Testen ASAP weer invoeren AUB.
      Dit gaat nergens meer over.

      Toen het ongelimiteerd testen nog toegestaan was waren de verschillen tussen de teams vele malen groter dan nu.... Dus NEE, liever niet ongelimiteerd testen....
      Ferrari heeft vele titels op zak dankzij het ongelimiteerd testen op hun circuit in de achtertuin....

      Inhaal races van Kimi....ik moet je eerlijk bekennen dat ik mij dat niet kan heugen.
      Volgens mij is hij de enige top 6 coureur die vrijwel nooit een inhaal race heeft moeten maken vanwege gridpenalty's. Een keer 5 plaatsen in Japan 2017, maar voor de rest weinig denk ik.

      NICOS, inhaalrace van zijn kwalificatie naar voren ! de man gaat dit jaar heel veel acties laten zien en weer laten zien wat "echt" racen is zoals ... leclerc en alonso deden

      Nou dat zal afhangen hoe goed de auto is, en het "echt" racen heb ik van Kimi niet heel veel gezien afgelopen jaren, dus waarom dat in en Sauber nu ineens wel gaat lukken....?
      Kan ook zomaar zijn dat Kimi langzaam maar zeker in de grijze middenmoot beland.
