Leclerc waarschuwt Russell voor de intensiteit van de Formule 1

Charles Leclerc wil George Russel waarschuwen voor de intensiteit van de Formule 1. De Formule 2-kampioen hoopt dezelfde route te kunnen afleggen als Leclerc. De Monegask, die dit seizoen voor Ferrari zal gaan rijden, legt de moeilijkheden uit die hij voelde gedurende de eerste races van het 2018-seizoen.

"Het is ontzettend moeilijk om met je banden om te gaan in de Formule 1 en ook het regelen van je benzine is compleet nieuw. Dus je zult hier echt wat dingen moeten aanpassen", zegt Leclerc tegenover RaceFans.

"Het moeilijkste gedeelte was echter de lengte van de races. Normaal gesproken moest ik twintig ronden rijden en dan was het afgelopen, maar in de Formule 1 moet je er plotseling meer dan veertig rijden. Aan het einde ben je aardig kapot", aldus Leclerc, die het vorige seizoen sterk eindigde.

De Monegask is ervan overtuigd dat Russell gelijkwaardige resultaten kan neerzetten. "George is een geweldige rijder, die erg snel is. Maar je weet nooit of hij over dezelfde dingen gaat struikelen als dat ik heb gedaan. Ik heb niet echt tips voor hem, maar hij zal zijn weg naar de top wel gaan vinden."
