Steiner denkt dat vierde plaats mogelijk is voor Haas

Günther Steiner is van mening dat Haas in 2019 'best of the rest' kan worden, mits beide coureurs constant genoeg blijven presteren. Dat zegt de teambaas van het Amerikaanse team in het Deense dagblad BT.

"Het doel voor 2019 is de vierde plaats behalen in het wereldkampioenschap voor constructeurs", begint Steiner. "Ik denk, net als alle andere teams, dat dat mogelijk is." De opinie is dat kleine teams achterstand zullen oplopen door de nieuwe regelgeving. Steiner kan daar geen uitspraken over doen. "Ik heb goede reacties gehad van onze engineers, bij ons ziet alles er goed uit. Ik heb geen idee hoe dat bij de andere teams is."

Steiner heeft vertrouwen in 2019. "Het ziet er heel goed uit, maar het is moeilijk om dit ten opzichte van 2018 te vergelijken. De regels zijn namelijk veranderd." Steiner was ook duidelijk over zijn coureurs, die volgens hem voor meer zekerheid moeten kiezen. "Romain en Kevin moeten elkaar blijven pushen. Ze moeten er rekening mee houden dat ze de punten binnen halen. Dat kan ook door achter je teamgenoot te finishen."

Steiner is tevreden over de samenwerking met Dallara en Ferrari. "We hebben vijftien nieuwe mensen aangenomen, maar we moeten niet vergeten dat wij heel goed samenwerken met onze leveranciers, Dallara en Ferrari. Voor ons is deze samenwerking uiterst belangrijk. Ik denk dat dit soort samenwerkingen in de toekomst vaker voor gaan komen, vooral bij kleinere teams. Toro Rosso is daar op dit moment een goed voorbeeld van. Zij werken voor 2019 zeer nauw samen met Red Bull Racing."

Mogelijk, ja. Waarschijnlijk, nee. Alleen als Renault er een bende van maakt dan hebben teams als Racing Point of Haas een kans op P4, maar als ik ergens geld op zou durven inzetten dan is het wel dat Renault op P4 in het kampioenschap gaat eindigen.

  Maar management etc blijft hetzelfde en onafhankelijk van Alfa.
  
  M.a.w. zodra Alfa (Ferrari) de geldkraan in de toekomst weer dichtdraaid dan zal de naam Suaber ook weer terugkomen. Maar da's slechts een aanname van mij.

  Ferrari is een zuster bedrijf zijn, hiervoor moet je bij fiat zijn :) Vind het al knap dat het geen Jeep of chrijsler werd :) Misschien zit dat voor haas in de petto als het moet stoppen .. :)
