De nieuwe bolide van Rich Energy Haas F1 heeft vrijdagmiddag zijn debuut gemaakt op het circuit. Romain Grosjean kreeg de eer om de VF-19 voor een shakedown en filmdag over het Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya te sturen.

Rich Energy Haas presenteerde haar nieuwe, zwart met gouden kleurstelling al op 7 februari en was daarmee het eerste team. Op dezelfde dag stuurde het team ook een aantal digitale afbeeldingen van het nieuwe chassis mee. Tot op heden was de auto echter nog niet in actie gekomen op een circuit, maar daar kwam vandaag dus verandering in. Grosjean werd door het team ingezet voor de filmdag, die tegelijkertijd dienst doet als shakedown.

Over het weer heeft Haas F1 niet te klagen tijdens de shakedown. Grosjean kan het maximale aantal van 100 kilometer onder een strakblauwe lucht en in het zonnetje rijden. Daarmee lijkt het team vast een voorproefje te hebben van het weer dat de teams komende week tijdens de eerste testsessie te wachten staat. De weersverwachting geeft vooralsnog redelijk zonnig weer aan, met temperaturen die overdag tussen de 15 en 18 graden Celsius uitkomen.
