WTCR wederom tijdens Jumbo Racedagen naar Circuit Zandvoort

Het FIA WTCR komt in 2019 wederom voor drie races naar Nederland. Op 18 en 19 mei worden de races verreden op het Circuit Zandvoort in een weekend dat Max Verstappen het circuit op zijn kop zet met de Jumbo Racedagen.

Vorig jaar lokten de Jumbo Racedagen 110.000 toeschouwers naar Zandvoort en het WTCR kon daarvan profiteren, want zij waren dat weekend op het circuit aanwezig voor de vierde ronde van hun kampioenschap. Yann Ehrlacher, Aurélien Comte en Jean-Karl Vernay wonnen afgelopen jaar de races op het circuit in de duinen. In mei kunnen de fans in ieder geval twee Nederlandse coureurs uit het WTCR verwelkomen: Nicky Catsburg en Niels Langeveld. Ook Tom Coronel heeft uitgesproken dat hij graag weer wil terugkeren in de klasse.

Voor de meeste aanwezigen draaien de Jumbo Racedagen om de demonstraties van Max Verstappen. De Nederlander zal ook dit jaar weer met een oude bolide van Red Bull Racing aanwezig zijn op het circuit in Zandvoort. Vorig jaar liet hij doorschemeren dat hij graag naar het WTCR kijkt.

"Na de eerste twee edities van de Jumbo Racedagen zei ik al dat we er een groot evenement van moeten maken, dat niet alleen draait om demonstratierondjes. Het is geweldig dat het WTCR erbij is en ik geniet ervan om het te zien. Ik geniet echt van dit weekend. Het is geweldig om te zien en de fans blijven ook kijken bij alle series. In het algemeen zijn ze erg gepassioneerd bezig met racen."
