Valtteri Bottas denkt dat inhalen makkelijker wordt in 2019

Valtteri Bottas is toegetreden tot een groeiend aantal coureurs die denken dat inhalen in 2019 gemakkelijker zal zijn. Aanvankelijk was er grote scepsis over de veranderingen in de voorvleugels voor dit jaar. Red Bull Racing stelde het aan de kaak als een verspilling van vijftien miljoen euro per team.

Sommige coureurs, waaronder Daniel Ricciardo en Kevin Magnussen, hebben positieve bevindingen gemeld na het volgen van andere auto's tijdens de wintertest in Barcelona. Mercedes-coureur Vallteri Bottas zegt er het volgende over: "Je kunt voelen dat er meer weerstand is en dat alleen dat al het slipstreamen gaat verbeteren. Het komt doordat er een grote gat in de lucht vrijkomt achter de auto die je volgt."

"Iedereen heeft het over de voorvleugel en ik heb ook de indruk dat het iets makkelijker is geworden om een auto te volgen. Maar ik denk dat het grotere effect de (grotere) DRS zal zijn. Al met al denk ik dat inhalen makkelijker wordt. Als je nu volgt, voelt de auto stabieler en is de wegligging voorspelbaarder. We hebben een goede stap in je juiste richting gezet", voegde hij er aan toe.

De Finse-coureur sloot af met: "Er waren mensen die dachten dat de nieuwe aerodynamica ons langzamer zou maken, ook daar heb ik geen vertrouwen in. De tijden zijn zelfs op hetzelfde niveau als tijdens de wintertest van 2018."

Dus Bottas kan nog meer ingehaald worden dit jaar. Waar hij vorig jaar vaker vier plekken verloor gedurende de race, kunnen we dit jaar verwachten dat hij er zeker zes kan verliezen.

Sterker nog ...
Ik denk dat de auto's sneller ( zaten nu nog maar 1/10 van de poleposition tijd af ) zijn dan vorig jaar ..

  De baan is nu sneller geworden, vorig jaar lag er nieuw asfalt op de baan. Dus kun je niet goed met elkaar vergelijken.

  Zoals hierboven al gezegd is de baan dit jaar sneller geworden en je moet ook niet vergeten dat er vorig jaar maar drie type banden beschikbaar waren (soft, medium en super soft) in het race weekend. Tijdens de testen konden de teams alle 5 de soorten kiezen.
  
  De kwalificatie tijden van 2018 van de top 10 zijn, op die van Alonso na, gezet op de soft band. De snelste tijden in de testen waren op de allerzachtste rode C5 band gezet.

  je moet vooral de temperatuurverschillen meenemen als je de poletijd gaat bekijken.
  
  verder denk ik.dat de bredere vleugel eem belemmering gaat zijn voor het inhalen..Die zal vaker geraakt gaan worden...

  ligt eraan, Misschien zijn ze nu wel meer vol gas gegaan om echt die nieuwe vleugels te testen. verleden jaar waren de regels een beetje hetzelfde als het jaar ervoor. wel zonde dat RB geen kans heeft gehad dat ding even op de staart te trappen. donderdag en vrijdag stond dat op de planning maar die vielen alle 2 in het water.
  
  Maar hopelijk heeft bottas gelijk en wordt het makkelijker volgen en inhalen.

  Het geldt voor vrijwel alle coureurs, dat makkelijker inhalen, alleen denk ik dat het bottas niet veel brengt.
