Verstappen in 2019 voorlopig in actie met Schuberth-helm

Max Verstappen lijkt tijdens de Grand Prix van Australië niet met de helmen van Arai aan de start te verschijnen. De Nederlander testte reeds in Spanje met een helm van Schuberth en met een helm van die fabrikant lijkt hij het ook in Melbourne te gaan proberen.

De reglementen rond de helmen zijn voor 2019 gewijzigd en dat betekent dat alle fabrikanten hun helmen opnieuw moesten laten homologeren. De helmen moeten aan strengere eisen voldoen in verband met de veiligheid. De opvallendste verandering is de opening van het vizier, die ten opzichte van eerder een stuk kleiner geworden is.

Arai had echter moeite om alle maten van de nieuwe helm op tijd gereed te krijgen, waardoor onder andere Verstappen er tijdens de wintertests geen gebruik van kon maken. Hij kwam een aantal dagen in actie met een ouder model van Arai, maar ook probeerde hij in Barcelona de helm van Schuberth uit.

Als van jongs af aan maakte Verstappen gebruik van helmen van Arai, maar daar lijkt nu in ieder geval voorlopig verandering in de komen. Afgaande op een tweet van Red Bull Racing van woensdag neemt Verstappen een helm van Schuberth mee naar de eerste grand prix van het jaar in Australië. Of Verstappen ook de rest van het seizoen helmen van Schuberth afneemt, is nog onduidelijk. De helmen van Arai zijn inmiddels namelijk wel door de keuringen van de FIA gekomen.

Mij is opgevallen dat er maar weinig hier weten wat 'n klein beetje sarcasme is. Om nou overal 'n :-) of 'n ;) achter te moeten zetten, is 'n beetje kinderachtig maar wel noodzakelijk voor de meesten onder ons.....beetje jammer.

Is definitief. Zelfs Gasly is overgestapt omdat RBR liever twee dezelfde helmen in de auto heeft in verband met de specifieke airflow van de helm tov de rest van de auto.
De Schuberth was een tijdelijke vervanging maar beviel zo goed dat Max definitief is overgestapt.

  Arai is al door de keuring. Helaas waren ze te laat klaar waardoor Max de Schuberth al geprobeerd had en die beviel beter. Daar blijft hij nu dus bij en heeft Arai gedag gezegd.

Komt niet meer goed dit seizoen voor RBR. 2019 afschrijven en volledig de focus op 2020 dan maar.
