Ricciardo wil lastig weekend in Australië graag achter zich laten

Na een moeizaam weekend in Australië hoopt Daniel Ricciardo op een beter weekend in Bahrein. Hij ziet in dat hij daarvoor in ieder geval een betere kwalificatie moet draaien dan in Melbourne het geval was.

Ricciardo is erop gebrand om in Bahrein een goede kwalificatie en race neer te zetten, nadat zijn eerste weekend voor het team absoluut niet ging zoals gehoopt. De Australiër bleef in zijn thuisrace steken in Q2 en raakte in de race vervolgens kort na de start zijn voorvleugel kwijt. Later in de race viel hij uit. In een voorbeschouwing op de Bahreinse Grand Prix laat Ricciardo weten er klaar voor te zijn om dat lastige weekend achter zich te laten.

"Ik ben er gebrand op Australië achter me te laten. In het geheel was het een redelijk frustrerend weekend, nog meer omdat de snelheid voor een goed resultaat er absoluut was. In de kwalificatie had ik het gevoel dat ik het er zelf in liet zitten en dat betekende dat onze startpositie niet ideaal was. Over de race valt niet al te veel te zeggen."

Ricciardo ziet goede inhaalmogelijkheden

Na de puntloze race in Melbourne wil Ricciardo wel scoren in Bahrein en hij weet naar eigen zeggen dat daarvoor nog wel het een en ander moet gebeuren. "Hopelijk zitten we erbij in het middenveld, maar eerst moeten we ervoor zorgen dat we snel zijn in de kwalificatie en aan de voorkant van de middenmoot staan."

"Er zijn een aantal goede inhaalmogelijkheden in dit rondje en het wordt interessant om te zien of er verschil zit in hoe goed auto's elkaar kunnen volgen, vooral op het rechte stuk. Bocht 1 is een goede plaats om het te doen en meestal zie je daar twee, drie of vier auto's strijden op de racedag. Bocht 4 kan ook een mooie inhaalplaats zijn als je tussen bochten 2 en 3 wat snelheid kan vinden."

ik vrees dat Bahrein niet veel meer succes zal brengen voor Renault, al hoop ik dat Ricci en Hulk het goed gaan doen

  Helemaal mee eens,ik ga er namelijk van uit dat zij het nu moeten doen aangezien men heel erg overtuigd was van de motor ontwikkeling tijdens de winter en Renault meestal niet erg sterk is in hun ontwikkeling tijdens het seizoen.

  Die kans zit er wel in.. Het zal mogelijk behoorlijk frusterend voor hem worden om het met minder materieel te moeten doen als bij Red Bull... Maar hij kan niemand behalve zichzelf daarvan de schuld geven, hij besloot weg te gaan, Red Bull wilde hem houden..

Hij zal een moeilijk seizoenstart beleven, zijn onzekerheid is gegroeid met name dankzij zijn eerste race te Melbourne en het feit dat RedBull toch een goede stap voorwaarts gezet heeft met Honda. Twijfels over zijn handtekening bij Renault. Accepteren die hap en halverwege het seizoen komt hij weer in de Power ranking !!
