Steiner verbaasd: "Geen idee waarom we snelheid kwijt waren"

Verbazing overheerste bij Günther Steiner na de Grand Prix van Bahrein. De teambaas van Haas F1 had geen idee hoe het kon dat de bolides van zijn team in de race de snelheid niet hadden.

Haas kwalificeerde zich nog wel sterk voor de race op het Bahrain International Circuit, want Kevin Magnussen en Romain Grosjean reden daarin de zesde en achtste tijd. In de race kwam dat er geen moment uit: Magnussen kon het tempo niet volgen en werd dertiende, Grosjean was de eerste uitvaller van de dag. Steiner was na afloop niet boos, maar had geen flauw idee waarom het tempo er niet was bij Haas.

Haas nu vijfde in kampioenschap

"We weten gewoon niet wat er gebeurde. We hebben geen idee. Ik zou hier meer mee moeten zitten, maar ik ben niet eens boos. Ik ben eerder verbaasd dan boos. Na de kwalificatie van gisteren is het raar dat we in de race komen en niet weten waarom we de snelheid ineens kwijt waren. Ik heb geen idee."

Haas staat na twee races nog steeds vierde bij de constructeurs en dat ziet Steiner als een lichtpuntje. "Het positieve is dat we hier dinsdag en woensdag kunnen testen. We hebben dus tenminste de kans om uit te vinden wat er gebeurde en om daar een goed beeld van te krijgen. Niemand heeft ons ingehaald in het kampioenschap voor constructeurs, dus de schade was niet zo groot. Ik ben absoluut niet blij, maar gelukkig valt de schade mee."

Helemaal met jou eens, met alle ervaring die Grosjean heeft presteert hij heel ver onder de maat. Dat gaat ook echt niet meer beter worden.

Huh? Kan Steiner niet rekenen? Volgens mij is Alfa Romeo inmiddels Haas wel degelijk voorbij gegaan. Die hebben nu 10 punten, en Haas 8.

Je kan gewoon zien hoe goed Kimi nog is gewoon, die heeft de punten voor Alfa binnengehaald. Haas had gewoon Grosjean uit die auto moeten halen en Latifi of zo erin moeten zetten

  Er was toch een probleem met punten voor Latifi?
  Maar er is best wel een ontwikkelingscoureur bij Ferrari die voor Haas wil rijden en die auto wel aan de finish kan brengen. Wehrlein, bijvoorbeeld.

  @Big_el...er was idd iets met punten met Latifi maar was meer een voorbeeld dat Grosjean gewoon niet snel genoeg en constant genoeg is. Grosjean zal wel meer geld hebben meegenomen.
