Robert Kubica voelt zich passagier aan boord van FW42

Robert Kubica zegt dat de beperkingen van zijn Williams FW42 hem het gevoel hebben gegeven dat hij slechts een 'passagier' aan boord van de onrustige auto is. Dat meldt Phillip van Osten.

Williams vecht vanaf het begin van het seizoen met haar nieuwe auto. De FW42 heeft een fundamentele fout die het ontwikkelingsproces kan beïnvloeden.

De productievertragingen in de fabriek hebben er toe geleid dat het team bijna geen reserveonderdelen heeft, waardoor de coureurs gedwongen worden om risico's te beperken. Dat is een nadeel voor de prestaties van beide coureurs.

"In Australië ben ik over een kerb gereden die iedereen nam, hierdoor verloor ik wat onderdelen. In Bahrein bleef ik weg van de kerbs, maar ik de kwalificatie gebruikte ik ze en verloren we weer een onderdeel. Toen realiseerde ik me dat ik de kerbs in de race eigenlijk niet gebruik. Als je daarnaast meer de bochten aan de binnenkant neemt vreet het ook van je banden, het is een gecompliceerde situatie", vertelde de Pool.

Terwijl Williams hard aan het werk is om tot een oplossing te komen reed het vandaag wel al 60 ronden met Nicolas Latifi. Latifi heeft goede herinneringen aan het circuit, hij stond afgelopen week twee maal op het podium bij de Formule 2-wedstrijden.

"Hopelijk komt er op een dag een punt waarbij ik de beperkingen van deze auto kan vergeten. Tot nu toe is het alsof ik ervoor moet zorgen dat ik de bocht om ga en geen problemen veroorzaak, alles is hier op gericht. Het is moeilijk om te zeggen dat dit leuk is. We moeten uitzoeken wat er aan de hand is, want ik heb geen marge en geen window waarin ik de auto kan besturen. Ik ben gewoon een passagier", sloot de teleurgestelde Pool af.

ach het brengt ook wel iets zo´n team wat echt helemaal de weg kwijt is. 1 jonge rijder en een rijder die eigenlijk niet meer goed genoeg is. Mooie wagen /nieuwe sponsor. Mercedes motor. Niks aan de hand zou je denken. Die ontwerpafdeling moet een keer goed onder de loep worden genomen daar.

Tsja, dit klinkt toch wel heel erg hopeloos. Ben benieuwd wat Russel er echt van vindt.
Ze krijgen het gewoonweg niet voor elkaar om een auto te bouwen die fatsoenlijk functioneert. Met een Mercedes-motor strak achteraan rijden zegt alles over de auto zelf.

ach het brengt ook wel iets zo´n team wat echt helemaal de weg kwijt is. 1 jonge rijder en een rijder die eigenlijk niet meer goed genoeg is. Mooie wagen /nieuwe sponsor. Mercedes motor. Niks aan de hand zou je denken. Die ontwerpafdeling moet een keer goed onder de loep worden genomen daar.

  Degene die het meest onder de loep genomen moet worden is de teambaas zelf. Sinds haar komst is eigenlijk alles bergafwaarts gegaan en is foute keuze na foute keuze gemaakt. Categorie kop in het zand steken en koppig doorgaan met de verkeerde route. Is faillissement de volgende stap?

  Ik vrees dat Claire gewoon een marionet van Frank is, en wellicht is dat ook wel de reden geweest waarom hij haar koos (die de functie niet eens ambieerde, zoals ik uit de docu begreep) , en niet haar broer die juist wel graag teambaas wilde worden maar dus gepasseerd werd. De rol van marionet past misschien niet zo goed bij hem? Ik snap niet goed waarom het team zo gerund wordt. Angst om de macht op te geven?
  Bij een ander team was ze allang vervangen geweest.
