Ricciardo voelt zich in China 'meer op zijn gemak' in de Renault

Daniel Ricciardo haalde in China voor het eerst als coureur van Renault het derde deel van de kwalificatie. Met P7 bleef hij tevens teamgenoot Nico Hülkenberg voor en dat stemde hem na twee lastige weekenden tevreden.

Ricciardo overleefde in Q3 de hachelijke laatste minuut van Q3. De Australiër kwam precies op tijd over start-finish om nog een nieuwe ronde te mogen rijden. Daarvoor moest hij op de valreep nog wel voorbij aan Max Verstappen. Het bracht hem uiteindelijk op de zevende positie. Na de kwalificatie vertelde Ricciardo aan GPToday.net dat hij wel met wat minder snelheid het rechte stuk op kwam.

"Ik had er een klein beetje last van bij het uitkomen van de laatste bocht, waardoor ik iets minder snelheid had. Gelukkig neem je veel snelheid mee de eerste bocht in, want ik had er weinig vertrouwen in als ik vol in de remmen had gemoeten voor een hairpin. Alles was nog redelijk koud. Het lukte me uiteindelijk en het is fijn voor mij dat Q3 te bereiken en daar een goede ronde te rijden. Voor het team is het misschien nog wat fijner na wat er in Bahrein gebeurde. Het is lekker om met beide auto’s in de top 8 te staan."

Gevoel Ricciardo in China beter

Ricciardo had het in zijn eerste twee races voor Renault lastig en in Bahrein gaf hij toe dat hij zich nog niet helemaal op zijn gemak voelde in de RS19. Hoewel in China nog niet alles perfect is, meent hij wel dat hij zich op het Shanghai International Circuit een stuk beter op zijn gemak voelt dan eerder.

"Als geheel loopt het dit weekend een stuk soepeler. Ik voelde me tijdens de eerste training een stuk meer op mijn gemak. Ik ben niet echt verrast door het resultaat, want gisteren wees alles daar al op en ik had het gevoel dat ik meer de baas was over de auto. Het is nog niet perfect, maar wat betreft het gevoel zit het goed dit weekend. Er zullen nog wel eens weekends tussen zitten waarin het lastig is, maar het is fijn om dit neer te zetten en wat momentum op te bouwen."

Ik verwacht toch dat Dany het in de race weer lastig gaat krijgen met de Hulk. Ik denk dat deze 2 coureurs redelijk van hetzelfde kaliber zijn, en dat de Hulk tot op het bot getergd is om te laten zien dat hij ook een Daniel salaris verdiend.

  Zo kun je het ook zien inderdaad. Al zou ik in Nico zijn geval pleiten voor het salaris van Daniel ipv hem te korten :)

  Een tijd terug zei iemand hier: RB kan volgend jaar wel een stunt uithalen door Nico op te halen en Renault een hak te zetten.
  
  Met de huidige prestaties van Pierre zie ik dat wel zitten en zou dat een geinige move zijn :) Gun Nico ook wel eens een goede auto, en hij zal iig wat druk op Max kunnen zetten verwacht ik, wat weer goed voor Max is.

de hulk is een onopvallende rijder die veel beter is dan vele denken ,, naast iemand als max of lewis zou dat best eens tot een verassing kunnen komen .
ricardo is dan ook nog niet klaar met de hulk maar dat zal wel duidelijk worden dit jaar
