Verstappen 'geniet' van grote demonstratie in Boedapest

Max Verstappen zat woensdagmiddag wederom achter het stuur van een Formule 1-bolide. De Red Bull Racing-coureur was afgereisd naar het Hongaarse Boedapest voor een demonstratie tijdens The Great Run en daar heeft hij zich goed vermaakt.

The Great Race is een jaarlijks terugkerend evenement in het centrum van Boedapest. Daarbij komen coureurs en auto's uit verschillende raceklassen in actie op een afgezet stuk openbare weg. Dat betrof een twee kilometer lang stuk door de Hongaarse hoofdstad dat van het Elisabethplein over Andrassy Avenue voerde, waarbij de coureurs onder anderen de Hongaarse Opera en enkele neo-klassieke gebouwen passeerden.

Verstappen geniet van fans met passie

Bij het evenement waren er al vanaf acht uur 's ochtends verschillende racebolides op het asfalt in Boedapest te vinden en tegen de tijd dat Verstappen zich voor het eerst met de RB7 naar buiten kwam, was de sfeer al uitzinnig. Dat merkte de Nederlander zelf ook toen hij achter het stuur van de auto zat. In een reactie vertelde de Nederlander dat hij genoten had van de demonstratie. "Het is altijd leuk om in de RB7 te rijden."

"Het was een mooie, zonnige dag in Boedapest voor deze showrun. Het was geweldig om wat geluid te maken met de RB7 en wat donuts te draaien voor zoveel fans. Zij zijn erg gepassioneerd over de Formule 1. Daarnaast zijn er zoveel andere atleten die in verschillende typen auto's rijden. Dat is vet. Er waren ook veel Red Bull-atleten en het is altijd leuk om even een praatje met ze te houden. Ik had een geweldige dag en ik heb ervan genoten."

Altijd leuk, zo'n demo in een oude RB7 met 8 cylinders. Maar ik vraag me af of die oude Renault motoren ook door Renault technici worden onderhouden?

  Er zijn bedrijven gespecialiseerd in oude racewagens, zelfs F1 autos.. Denk niet dat ze voor een oude ferrari, mercedes , renault ,etc etc, specifiek merkgebonden technici hebben... En waarschijnlijk zal RB zelf wel techneuten hebben die dit aankunnen...

Renault F1 motoren zijn nooit in prive handen geweest, maar altijd eigendom van Renault gebleven, je kunt dus een oude Benetton aanschaffen uit 1997, maar de motor kun je huren bij Renault, of je hangt er een v10 in van engine development aka Judd zoals Klaas Zwart dat deed voor de EuroBoss serie.

Williams demo runs met de FW14B levert Renault ook nogsteeds ondersteuning of bij een oude Lotus 98T doen ze ook niet moeilijk.

Wat wel zuur is voor Renault is dat ze de demo runs doen in de 2019 livery en dus met Honda op de motorkap ipv historisch correct de livery waar Vettel mee kampioen werd 8 jaar geleden.
