Kubica: "Snelheid is veel beter dan hoe het eruit ziet"

Robert Kubica is van mening dat zijn snelheid in de races veel beter is dan de Williams-bolide tot nu toe laat zien. Het Britse team bezet tot nu toe bij elke race de laatste posities en Kubica is in alle gevallen de laatste coureur geweest die rijdend over de finish kwam.

Het seizoen van Williams staat tot nu toe bol van de problemen. Het team had de auto niet op tijd gereed voor de start van de wintertests en de gevolgen daarvan worden nog steeds ondervonden. De FW42 is verre van competitief, wat veroorzaakt wordt door fundamentele problemen met de bolide zelf. Volgens Kubica zijn er echter voldoende positieve punten te vinden in zijn prestaties van dit jaar.

Kubica positief over eigen snelheid en racen

"Het is niet makkelijk om aspecten te benoemen die zeer, zeer positief zijn, maar ik denk dat er voldoende dingen zijn die redelijk positief zijn. Een aantal van deze dingen worden verborgen door de algehele prestaties. Er zijn echter ook nog zat dingen die verbeterd kunnen worden."

"Mijn rijden en mijn snelheid zijn beter dan ze eruit zien. Helaas zitten we in deze positie. Het zou al goed zijn als we geen aanvullende problemen tegenkomen die het vertrouwen verminderen en die het rijden een stuk lastiger maken. We hebben het lastig qua snelheid, maar we hebben ook problemen met een aantal andere dingen die we moeten oplossen.

Kubica keerde begin 2019 terug als coureur in de Formule 1, nadat de Pool acht jaar afwezig was. Dat was het gevolg van zijn crash tijdens een rally in het voorjaar van 2011. In 2017 en 2018 maakte Kubica al wel een aantal keer zijn opwachting tijdens tests voor Renault en Williams. Voor zijn crash won de Pool een Grand Prix en gold hij als een van de grootste talenten in de Formule 1.

  Renault heeft het goed gezien zijn tijd is voorbij ,hij rijdt daar alleen omdat hij een grote sponser heeft.

ik heb zo het gevoel dat Kubica in een fer of merc wel sneller is dan in de williams .........maar wel veel trager dan vet....ham ..lecl of bottas

Blijft moeilijk om te verklaren waarom je bent teruggekomen en waarom je in zo'n barrel zit. Natuurlijk is het z'n eigen keuze, maar het is doodzonde dat hij z'n eigen legacy om zeep heeft geholpen. Williams en Kubica is een combi om depressief van te worden.

Dat Williams niet snel is heeft hij een punt. Maar zijn rookieteamgenoot eindigt wel voor hem en dat geeft toch wel het beeld dat hij beter niey had kunnen instappen

Kubica is zo bezig met zijn eigen presteren dat de ontwikkeling van de auto alleen door Russel wordt gedaan. Leuk verhaal die Kubica maar ze hadden beter Ocon erin moeten zetten. Maar ja, money, money, money....
