Haas F1 en Alfa Romeo krijgen update Ferrari-motor niet in Spanje

Alfa Romeo Racing en Haas F1 zullen tijdens de Grand Prix van Spanje niet in actie komen met de nieuwe krachtbron die Ferrari eerder dan gepland op het Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya introduceert.

Naar aanleiding van de matige seizoensstart heeft Ferrari besloten om de geplande update van haar krachtbron eerder te introduceren. In een poging de zegereeks van Mercedes te stoppen komt de Scuderia al in Spanje met een nieuwe versie van de motor, terwijl die versie oorspronkelijk pas in Canada geïntroduceerd zou worden.

Ook Alfa Romeo en Haas F1 maken gebruik van Ferrari-motoren, maar in Spanje krijgen zij nog niet de beschikking over de nieuwste editie daarvan. "Momenteel is het plan dat we de nieuwe motor in Monte Carlo of Canada in gebruik nemen", vertelde teambaas Günther Steiner aan GPToday.net. Daaraan voegde de Italiaan toe dat Haas F1 dit weekend ook niet de kans had om de nieuwe krachtbron te gebruiken.

Moment introductie maakt Steiner weinig uit

Volgens Steiner maakt het weinig uit of de nieuwe krachtbron in Monaco of tijdens een andere race geïntroduceerd wordt bij Haas. "Je kan het op enorm veel manieren doen en je kan altijd positieve en negatieve dingen vinden. Op een gegeven moment moet je het gewoon doen."

"Het goede is dat je in Canada dan al weet waar je aan toe bent, omdat je het in Monte Carlo tijdens een race getest hebt. Het belangrijkste is dat je de hoeveelheid kilometers kan beperken en dat is iets dat Ferrari voor ons kan doen." Ten slotte gaf Steiner nog aan dat Haas F1 net als Ferrari en Alfa Romeo gebruik maakt van brandstof van Shell, maar dat ze wel met een andere specificatie daarvan rijden.

Ik begrijp er nu niet veel meer van....volgens de motorenregels dient een motorfabrikant toch altijd teams dezelfde specificaties aan te bieden tegenwoordig?

  Dat dacht ik ook, maar ze zullen wel weer een loophole in de regels gevonden hebben.. Of het moet een keuze zijn van Haas en Alfa zelf om de nieuwe motor nog niet te gebruiken, maar dat kan ik me niet voorstellen..

  Als er nog niet voldoende krachtbronnen beschikbaar zijn, die dingen moeten uiteindelijk geproduceerd worden, kan je dat niet. Bovendien is het natuurlijk ook maar hoe je de planning van de motoren wil inzetten mbt penalty's later in het seizoen.

  Volgens mij hangt dat af van de afspraken tussen klant en leverancier. TR reed in 2015 bijvoorbeeld met een 2014 motor van Ferrari.

hmmm, is het niet zo dat alle klanten de mogelijkheid moeten hebben om van de nieuwste spec gebruik te kunnen maken....

zoals ik het lees, kan het gewoon niet en is het geen keus van Haas & Alfa om met de oude te blijven rijden.

  Krijgen we dat zelfbedachte verzinseltje weer. Het probleem dat Leclerc kreeg had daar geen bal mee te maken.
  Overigens had Vettel in diezelfde race gewoon helemaal geen problemen, en die ging ook gewoon voluit.
