Valtteri Bottas: "Ik voel me met de dag meer comfortabel in de auto"

Mercedes AMG Petronas-coureur Valtteri Bottas scoorde zijn derde pole position op rij en zijn negende uit zijn carrière. De 29 jarige Finse-coureur bleef zijn teamgenoot Lewis Hamilton ruim zes tienden voor. Bottas kende een 'clean lap', Hamilton daarentegen reed een rommelig laatste deel van de kwalificatie.

Direct na afloop van de kwalificatie sprak Jenson Button met Bottas en hij vroeg hem hoe zijn snelste ronde tot stand kwam: "De auto werd gedurende de kwalificatie steeds beter en beter. Ik heb echt genoten van de adrenaline rushes die ik in Q3 heb gehad. Ik ben super blij omdat ik natuurlijk in de derde vrije training gespind was."

Nadat Bottas in het eerste deel van de kwalificatie nog een tandje harder was gegaan en in het tweede deel hetzelfde trucje uithaalde stond er in het derde deel opnieuw geen maat op de Finse coureur. Bottas voelt zich met de dag beter in de auto en gaat vol vertrouwen de rest van het seizoen in: "Het geeft een enorme boost voor de rest van het seizoen. Ik ben het seizoen uitstekend gestart en ik voel me met de dag meer comfortabel in de auto", sloot de gelukkige Mercedes-coureur af.

    die wordt gewoon wk als hij zo doorgaat. hamilton valt vooral in de kwali heel hard tegen dit jaar. Toch een beetje minder aan het worden? geen schande hoor want het was een beest altijd in de kwali. Het valt gewoon op.

    Misschien ben ik nu wel een lijkenpikker maar dat zou ook wel goed nieuws zijn voor Verstappen als het volgend jaar weer tegenvalt. Hebben ze de ideale vervanger.

    Vorig jaar veel kritiek over zich heen gekregen (terecht ook), maar hij doet het nu uitstekend. Als hij dit door weet te zetten dan krijgen we misschien teamorders voor Hamilton straks ;)

    Ik hoop dat hij dot ook echt weet vast te houden. Ik zit er niet op te wachten tot Hamilton weer kampioen gaat worden, het liefst zelfs geen Mercedes in welke vorm dan ook.
