Valtteri Bottas: "Hamilton bij elke gelegenheid verslaan kan sleutel tot succes zijn"

Mercedes-coureur Valtteri Bottas zegt dat hij zijn teamgenoot Lewis Hamilton bij elke gelegenheid wil verslaan. Bottas is van mening dat dit zijn sleutel tot succes kan zijn. Tot aan de Grand Prix van Spanje was Bottas leider in het wereldkampioenschap. Bottas reed tijdens de eerste Grand Prix van het jaar in Australië de snelste ronde en dat 'snoeppuntje' zorgde ervoor dat hij met één punt voorsprong actief was in Spanje.

Bottas werd tweede tijdens de Spaanse Grand Prix en zegt dat hij weet wat hem te doen staat bij de resterende zestien races. Hij erkent dat sommige circuits in het voordeel kunnen zijn van de concurrerende teams en dat er een voortdurende strijd zal zijn om de auto's te ontwikkelen.

Concurrentie van andere teams

De Fin geeft de indicatie dat het seizoen niet alleen om de Mercedes-coureurs zal draaien: "Op dit moment gaat het tussen Lewis en mij. Het is een enorm lang seizoen. Er zijn veel teams die, afhankelijk van het circuit, dicht bij elkaar staan en het wordt een ontwikkelingswedstrijd tussen de teams gedurende het hele seizoen. Maar als het aan mij ligt moet ik elke kans pakken."

'De Grand Prix van Spanje was voor mij vervelend. Ik had het gevoel dat ik hard gewerkt heb tijdens dat weekend. Ik kwalificeerde de auto op pole en dat betekende op dat circuit heel veel. Helaas verloor ik het bij de start."

Nooit goede auto in Monaco gehad

Bottas vertelde dat hij zijn focus moet verleggen naar de Grand Prix van Monaco. Hij heeft aan dat hij het gevoel heeft dat hij nog nooit een auto heeft gehad die bij hem past in Monaco. Tijdens zijn Williams-jaren viel het chassis tegen en reed Bottas in een vrij goede auto zijn rondje in de achterhoede. "Ik heb het gevoel dat ik in mijn carrière nooit een goede auto in Monaco heb gehad. Het is een uniek circuit. Je hebt een hele speciale auto nodig die veel mechanische grip heeft. Het is de vraag hoe de auto daar gaat presteren."

De Mercedessen hebben het de afgelopen drie jaar moeilijk gehad in de straten van Monaco, maar na hun prestaties in de derde sector in Barcelona ziet het er voor het Duitse-team veelbelovend uit. "Ik hoop dat we daar een goede auto hebben. Het is een unieke race en ik heb daar nog nooit op het podium gestaan. Ik kijk er echt naar uit."

"Ik woon vlak bij de start-finishlijn, dus het zou leuk zijn om daar een keer een goede auto te hebben", verklaarde de Fin.

  Bij elke gelegenheid. Dus als de kans voor doet er staan. Dus niet perse één op één de krachtmeting aangaan, maar niet verzaken als Hamilton een keer verzaakt of pech heeft.

Ik hoop dat die Boodschappentas het wel probeert bij Hamilton , er zal zeker een Mercedes coureur kampioen worden , dan hoop ik dat het daar onderling nog spannend gaat worden

De circuits die nu komen zijn niet voor Bottas dus ik neem aan dat Lewis die wint, Monaco is wel verhaal apart, dat kan denk ik nog alle kanten op, hoeft niet perse Mercedes te zijn, is even afwachten.
