Bottas: "Mercedes-motor kan ook na upgrade niet tippen aan Ferrari"

Mercedes introduceert tijdens de Grand Prix van Canada een nieuwe versie van haar krachtbron, maar Valtteri Bottas verwacht geen wonderen. Volgens de Fin kan de nieuwe motor nog steeds niet tippen aan die van Ferrari.

De verwachting is dat Ferrari dit weekend in Canada de grootste bedreiging gaat vormen voor Mercedes. De verwachting is dat de Scuderia de sterkste motor heeft van het veld, hoewel dat in de tussenstand momenteel niet terug te zien is. Mercedes heeft een voorsprong van 118 punten op het Italiaanse team en won alle races tot nu toe. De hoop is echter dat Ferrari daar verandering in kan brengen door het vermogensvoordeel.

Motorwissel komt op goed moment volgens Bottas

Mercedes brengt in Montreal haar eerste upgrade voor de motor mee, maar Bottas verwacht geen wonderen. Hij voorziet een kleine stap voorwaarts met de frisse motor qua vermogen, maar ook dat Ferrari nog de te kloppen krachtbron heeft. "We denken niet dat het voldoende zal zijn om de topsnelheid van Ferrari te evenaren", vertelt Bottas. "Daar zullen zij een voordeel hebben, maar onze kracht ligt op andere vlakken. Ik kijk ernaar uit om hem te proberen."

"Ik denk dat de motor op het juiste moment komt, want de eerste motor ging richting het eind van zijn latijn. We moesten hoe dan ook een nieuwe steken. Het is beter dat we hier de upgrade hebben dan in Monaco. De timing is goed, want de motor is hier veel waardevoller. We moeten echter zien wat er werkt en hoeveel voordeel we ervan zullen hebben in vergelijking met de andere."

kun je nagaan hoe knap het zou zijn als ze wederom een 1-2 scoren met zo'n aftands motortje achterin,
bij Ferrari liggen ze in een deuk om die motor, ze weten daar dondersgoed dat zij de te kloppen krachtbron hebben, de f1 gaat momenteel echt zwaar gebukt onder de dominantie van de Ferrari krachtbron, gelukkig houdt Lewis het nog enigszins interessant!

Pfff, ik denk dat als ze bij Mercedes zouden proberen slechts 2 motoren te gebruiken dit seizoen, ze dat ook nog eens mit zwei finger in die nase zou lukken.

Bottas zegt helemaal niet dat Ferrari meer vermogen heeft. Ferrari rijd met een low down force wagen rond als ze dezelfde hoeveelheid downforce als Mercedes zouden kunnen genereren dan zouden ze een stuk langzamer gaan op topsnelheid. Beetje onzin deze interpretatie.
