Wolff verwijst geruchten over toekomst als CEO van Formule 1 naar rijk der fabelen

Toto Wolff lijkt niet van plan om Mercedes te verlaten voor een functie als CEO van de Formule 1. De teambaas van het kampioensteam verwijst verhalen daarover naar het rijk der fabelen.

Mercedes haalde Wolff in 2013 binnen als teambaas en CEO van het Formule 1-team. Daarbij verkreeg de Oostenrijker ook 30 procent van de aandelen in het team. Er gaan echter geruchten dat Wolff de belangrijkste kandidaat is om Chase Carey na 2020 op te volgen als CEO van de Formule 1. Wolff zegt echter zelf van niets te weten en denkt dat er misschien meer achter zit dat zijn naam genoemd is, zo vertelde hij aan Autosport.

"Ik vraag me af wie mijn naam genoemd heeft... Misschien is het doel van mijn naam noemen wel het triggeren van scepsis. Interessant genoeg gebeurt er op dat vlak niets en ik heb me niet aangemeld voor een baan. Ik ben erg tevreden bij Mercedes en ik geniet van mijn rol in het vertegenwoordigen van een van de beste merken ter wereld."

Geruchten komen niet bij Wolff vandaan

"Ik heb de autonomie gekregen om het team met de beste intenties voor Mercedes te runnen en als partner van Mercedes geniet ik echt van de relaties binnen het team en met de vrienden van Daimler. Ik ben een persoon va rondetijden en ik geniet van competitie. Dus wat er ook gezegd wordt door mensen, het komt niet van mij en reflecteert de situatie niet."
