Sponsor Kubica ontkent dat het overweegt sponsoring te stoppen

Als het aan sponsor PKN Orlen ligt maakt Robert Kubica gewoon het seizoen af bij Williams. Het Poolse bedrijf is niet van plan om haar financiële steun aan het Britse team stop te zetten.

Kubica keerde begin dit jaar terug als vaste coureur in de Formule 1. De Pool had er net acht seizoenen aan de zijlijn opzitten, nadat hij begin 2011 zwaargewond raakte bij een ongeluk met een rally-auto. Tot dusver vallen zijn prestaties zwaar tegen, want Kubica legt het in vrijwel alle races af tegen debuterend teamgenoot George Russell. De toekomst van de enkelvoudig Grand Prix-winnaar lijkt zelfs niet zeker te zijn.

Contract PKN Orlen gerelateerd aan deelname Kubica

Orlen wil een eind aan die speculatie maken, want tegenover FormulaSpy.com lieten ze weten dat zij een waterdicht contract hebben. "Alle mediaspeculatie over de vermeende beperking van de financiële steun van PKN Orlen aan Williams Racing is onwaar. Het contract met Williams is getekend voor het hele Formule 1-seizoen en is strikt gerelateerd aan de deelname van Robert Kubica's deelname in de sport. Het bevat ook een optie om de termijn met een jaar te verlengen."

Exacte details kan PKN Orlen niet bekendmaken over het contract, omdat dit vertrouwelijke informatie is. "Het contract bevat precieze definities voor de momenten waarop betaald moet worden en de verplichtingen van Williams. De inhoud is echter beschermd met een vertrouwelijkheidsclausule, dus we zijn niet in de positie om details te onthullen."

Ik denk dat de cultstatus van Kubica behoorlijk aan het afnemen is n.a.v. zijn prestaties.
Zelf dacht ik ook dat het een sprookje voor hem zou worden. Terugkomen van zo'n ongeluk, die vechtersmentaliteit. Het is natuurlijk bewonderenswaardig maar ik ben wel van mening dat hij niet meer thuis hoo... [Lees verder]

Kubica is een cultfiguur geworden en dat is qua sponsoring ook wat waard. In Spanje waren er zat ( en zat) Polen voor Kubica.

Kubica en Williams zijn spraakmakend. Dus er wordt genoeg publiciteit gegenereerd. Maakt niet uit wat, als er maar over he gepraat wordt.
