Daniel Ricciardo: "Hockenheim een coole baan waar ik altijd goed op ga"

Na een sterke race op Silverstone, waar hij net te kort kwam om Carlos Sainz te verschalken, kijkt de Australische Renault-coureur Daniel Ricciardo uit naar de volgende Grand Prix op het circuit van Hockenheim in Duitsland.

Ricciardo, die tot nu toe 22 punten bij elkaar heeft gesprokkeld voor zijn nieuwe werkgever, denk dat Renault sinds de Canadese Grand Prix stappen aan het maken heeft. Ricciardo is fan van het Duitse-circuit en kijkt eveneens uit naar het enthousiasme bij het Duitse (en Nederlandse) publiek.

"Hockenheim is een geweldig leuk circuit en ik heb hier altijd heel graag gereden", vertelde hij op de website van Renault. "De eerste bocht is supersnel en er zitten een aantal mooie bochtencombinaties in om lekker doorheen te rijden, zeker in het stadion gedeelte."

Ook zijn er volgens de voormalige Red Bull-coureur genoeg plekken om in te halen: "Vooral de haarspeldbocht na het bochtige rechte stuk is een mooie plek om in te halen. Hockenheim is een coole baan waar ik altijd goed op ga."

"Het Duitse publiek is altijd goed. Ze zijn erg luidruchtig en gepassioneerd door de autosport." Dat de Renault-coureur zijn liefde omtrent eten niet onder stoelen of banken steekt werd duidelijk bij zijn laatste opmerking: "Ik hou ook van Schnitzels, dus we hebben iets om naar uit te kijken." De Australiër gaat hier overigens voorbij aan het feit dat de Schnitzel zijn oorsprong niet in Duitsland heeft liggen. De 'Schnitzel' komt van oudsher uit het Ottomaanse gedeelte van Oostenrijk.

Ik kan wat missen hoor, maar volgens mij zijn de resultaten van Ricciardo in Duitsland niet om iets over naar huis te schrijven. Geloof in 2016 een 2e plaats maar verder niet veel bijzonders....? Ja..je kan er goed eten

  Vorig jaar liet bijvoorbeeld het materiaal hem in de steek, iets waar hij dan zelf niets aan kan doen. Kan nog steeds zo zijn dat Ricciardo dit gewoon een fijne baan vindt om op te rijden.
