Racing Point met B-Specificatie naar Hockenheim

Racing Point zal dit weekend haar B-spec auto introduceren tijdens de Duitse Grand Prix. De grote upgrade is al geruime tijd in de planning, waarbij het team tijdens de Grand Prix van Monaco bevestigde dat het een 'bijna nieuwe auto' mee zal nemen naar Duitsland.

Het team zal zijn aerodynamische filosofie veranderen met deze upgrade, iets waarvan men denkt dat het de prestaties van de RP19 zal verbeteren. Ondanks het feit dat het een grote verandering is, heeft Otmar Szafnauer, teammanager bij Racing Point, ontkend dat het veranderen van de aerodynamische filosefie een groot risico is. Szafnauer begrijpt dat het de vooruitzichten van het team 'voor altijd' zal helpen.

De RP19 heeft in de eerste helft van het seizoen aardige dingen laten zien tijdens races, maar schiet te kort bij de kwalificatie. Het team heeft in de laatste zes races geen punten meer gescoord en staat momenteel zevende in het constructeurskampioenschap.

Sergio Perez, die zijn laatste punten scoorde tijdens de Grand Prix in Baku, hoop dat Hockenheim het keerpunt zal zijn voor het team. "Ik hoop dat Duitsland voor ons een keerpunt gaat worden", verklaarde de Mexicaan. "Ik heb de laatste tijd altijd pech, vooral op Silverstone. Ik denk dat we daar een goed resultaat hadden verdiend."

"Ik denk dat we nog voor de zomerstop goede stappen kunnen maken met de auto en hopelijk kunnen we dan iets gelukkiger zijn. Ik geloof in het werk wat de doen ik weet dat het slechts een kwestie van tijd is voordat we zijn op de plek waar we horen - punten scoren."

Lance Stroll was eveneens optimistisch: "We hebben de laatste wedstrijden wat pech gehad, maar de stemming in het team is nog steeds positief. Er komen dit weekend nieuwe dingen naar de auto, dus er zal veel geleerd worden tijdens de trainingen. Dit teams is erg goed in het ontwikkelen van een auto gedurende het seizoen en ik ben optimistisch dat we dit weekend wat vooruitgang kunnen boeken."

Toch kan ik al bijna raden wie er op P18 gaat kwalificeren. Gaat papa het dan echt nooit inzien?

Voor Perez hoop ik dat ze weer een sprongetje kunnen maken.

  Misschien denkt Lance dat hij omdat hij nummer 18 heeft ook altijd van P18 moet starten. :-)

Dit teams is erg goed in het ontwikkelen van een auto gedurende het seizoen...

En hoeveel seizoenen heeft dit team dat dan laten zien? Wishful thinking.... Of denkt hij dat hij voor Redbull rijdt.

Zo introduceerden ze in 2015 tijdens de gp van silverstone een b-spec wat er voor zorgde dat ze nog 5e werden bij de constructeurs nadat ze in het begin van het seizoen met moeite punten scoorden. Ook in 2016 ging het richting het einde van het seizoen steeds beter en zelfs met de financiële problemen in 2018 lieten ze zien de auto enorm goed door te kunnen ontwikkelen na in de eerste paar races een van de langzaamste teams te zijn geweest. Dus ik denk dat Stroll terecht optimistisch is en het zou me ook niks verbazen als ze in de buurt kunnen komen van Renault of misschien zelfs Mclaren.

  En je hebt inderdaad gelijk. Tot nu toe is het zo dat dit team ieder jaar gedurende het jaar steeds sterker werd.

  Dit team zit in een andere update cyclus. Aan het begin van het jaar weinig nieuws en middenin het jaar een b-spec uitbrengen. Kun je dan echt spreken over "ontwikkelen gedurende het seizoen"?

  Het probleem zit ‘m er in dat ze dit seizoen naar de wensen van hun 1e coureur moeten luisteren qua feedback en in welke richting hij wil waarop de auto moet worden ontwikkeld.
  
  En wie weet dat ze allemaal waardeloze feedback van die 1e coureur krijgen, of dat die dingen eist waar de auto niet echt beter van wordt.
  
  Dit team, met de Strolls in de leidende rol is niet langer Force India, dit is team Racing Catastroll

Lance heeft een Bottas-baardje laten staan. En de achtervleugel heeft een extra opstaand randje gekregen. Dat is de b-spec van RP.
