Stroll: "Concentreren op korte termijn bij Racing Point"

Lance Stroll concentreert zich op de prestaties op korte termijn, ondanks de grote ambities van het Racing Point-team van zijn vader. Iets meer dan een jaar na de overname van het voormalige Force India-team begint het Canadese team vooruitgang te boeken door 2019 te starten met een onderontwikkelde auto.

Op langere termijn zijn de nieuwe reglementen voor 2021 en de aanzienlijke investeringen in de fabriek van het team en elders echter wel gericht op progressie en om vooraan de grid te komen. Stroll: "Ik denk dat we ons moeten concentreren op het heden. Wat we verder kunnen doen in de toekomst zit zeker in ons achterhoofd, maar ja we zullen zien wat de toekomst in petto heeft."

"Op dit moment gaat het echt om de tweede helft van het seizoen en dan natuurlijk om de beste auto te brengen die we kunnen voor het volgende seizoen. Dat is een ander verhaal op dit moment. We hebben dit jaar nog genoeg races waarin we kunnen scoren."

Niet tevreden

Over het huidige seizoen is Lance Stroll niet tevreden. De Canadees had meer progressie verwacht: "Het is niet waar we willen zijn. In deze sport is niets zeker. Het is duidelijk dat de andere teams in de loop van de eerste helft van het seizoen enige vooruitgang hebben geboekt. Helaas zijn ze erin geslaagd om een paar tienden voorsprong op ons te nemen. Dat is hoe het is, we moeten er gewoon mee omgaan en terugvechten."

  Had gewoon verwacht het door ontwikkelen beter ging, Maar denk met RP meer in lange termijn moet zien. Denk de kern en ervaring van de team om financieel te rooien is er wel. Maar nu met meer geld moeten ze wel zien effectiefer te worden.

  Door alle overname perikelen is de auto onderontwikkeld, wat nu pas leidt naar een iets betere auto?
