Ferrari: "Geen garantie op succes in Spa en Monza"

De Formule 1 komt uit haar zomervakantie en begint direct de komende twee weekenden met een back-to-back door zowel in Spa-Francorchamps als Monza binnen een week te racen. Heerlijk voor de fans en ook de teams. Normaliter kent Ferrari altijd wel succes in Spa of Monza, maar behaalde resultaten bieden op dit moment geen garantie op hernieuwd succes.

Dat is althans de mening van Ferrari-teambaas Binotto. Door het gebrek aan maximale downforce op de Ferrari is het zoeken naar de juiste afstelling en hopen op een dagsucces.

Niets is zeker

Als Mattia Binotto vooruit kijkt naar de Belgische Grand Prix denkt hij dat zijn team beter voor de dag zal komen vanwege de hoge snelheden, iets waar Ferrari dit jaar in uitblinkt ten opzichte van de concurrentie: "Ik denk dat we in Spa zeker meer kans maken en een stuk competitiever kunnen zijn vanwege het feit dat Spa vooral een sterke motor eist. Niets is echter zeker voor ons. Onze concurrentie is op dit moment heel sterk en we zullen niet alleen hun maar ook onszelf uit moeten dagen."

Eerste overwinning 2019

Na 12 gereden races in het huidige seizoen staat de teller wat betreft overwinningen nog altijd op nul voor het team uit Maranello. Binotti hoopt dan ook op succes de komende twee races: "Ik denk dat de situatie de komende twee races anders zal zijn dan in Hongarije het geval was. We zullen ervoor zorgen ons zo goed mogelijk voor te bereiden om onze eerste overwinning in 2019 te behalen."

Monza zijn ze zeker kanshebber. Spa het eerste gedeelte en laatste gedeelte zullen ze ook wel snel zijn. Maar dat middenstuk zal ze vooral in de race wel eens op kunnen gaan breken.

Ik denk dat als Ferrari geen overwinning pakt dit jaar dat Binotto ook alweer kan vertrekken...

  Denk ik niet.
  
  Binotto is hard aan de structuur binnen Maranello aan het werken. Zijn aanstelling eind 2018 is een bewuste keuze geweest. Maar je kan van de man ook niet verwachten dat hij het tij zomaar even keert. Ik twijfel niet aan Binotto die zowel de succesmomenten (Schumacher era) als diepe dalen (<2014> ...) ervaarde.
  
  Hij weet wat er dient te gebeuren, maar zelfs Ferrari lijkt te sukkelen bij het aantrekken van de juiste profielen. Di Resta zijn ze o.a. ook weer terug gaan halen bij AR. En iets zegt me dat hij niet de eerste keuze was...
  
  Over Spa en Monza:
  In het begin van het seizoen had ik nog best overtuigd geweest in Ferrari's slaagkansen voor deze 2 GP's. Vandaag is dat al een pak minder.
  Mercedes komt meestal (nog) sterker uit de zomerperiode, zo ook Lewis. RedBull zit in een bijzonder goede flow en ik mag hopen dat de Scuderia zich vooral aan het focussen is op 2020! (Hoe dubbel dit ook is om neer te pennen...)

Ze maken in Spa en Monza zeker meer kans. Zou mooi zijn als die rode bolides echt vooraan meedoen. Ik zie graag een strijd voorin.

1 van de 2 moeten ze winnen, ik hoop Monza, dat geeft Binotto weer wat lucht, of dit voor hem voldoende is betwijfel ik.

De kwalificatie zie ik de komende races als de betrouwbaarheid het toelaat erg positief tegemoet. Maar Mercedes blijft in de races een groot voordeel behouden doordat hun motor rondes langer aan kan op een agressievere motorstand dan de concurrentie. Ferrari zal daar slim mee om moeten gaan. Zeker op Monza/Spa als ze er een 1-2 uit de kwalificatie weten te slepen. Het liefst zie ik ze winnen in Monza.

Wel goed bedacht die foto @Danny, het wordt idd tijd dat ze gaan winnen, maar van mij hoeft het niet. Overigens denk ik dat ze in Spa ook niet veel kans hebben. Hooguit Monza.

Masi mocht volgens eerdere berichten aanblijven als wedstrijdleider tot de zomerstop.
Ik heb niets meer hierover vernomen dus ik neem aan dat hij ook in Spa (dus ná de zomerstop!) gewoon zijn huidige rol mag blijven vervullen?
