Mattia Binotto niet blij met bijnaam Harry Potter

Ferrari-teambaas Mattia Binotto heeft met zijn team een goede start gemaakt na de zomerstop. Het Italiaanse team wist twee keer de pole position te pakken en ging er tevens twee keer vandoor met de overwinning in zowel België als Italië. Al gaat het met het team zo goed, zo slecht gaat het met Sebastian Vettel. De viervoudig wereldkampioen heeft de laatste paar races moeite en maakt duurzame fouten. Charles Leclerc is de eyecatcher voor Ferrari, hij heeft het team het maximaal haalbaar resultaat gebracht met twee poles en twee overwinningen na de zomerstop.

Teambaas Binotto, die vaak vergeleken wordt met Harry Potter, heeft voor de zomerstop veel kritiek gehad. De teambaas wist met zijn team voor de zomerstop geen enkele race te winnen, wel wisten zijn coureurs drie keer pole te pakken. Na de zomerstop doet Ferrari het goed en daarin heeft Mattia een grote rol.

Vind ik niet leuk

De geboren Zwitser heeft misschien wel zijn Harry Potter-spreuken gebruikt, maar daar wil hij niet mee vergeleken worden, zo vertelde hij tegen Bild. "Ik lees dat ik vergeleken word met Harry Potter. Vind ik dat leuk? Nee niet echt..." Harry Potter is een tovenaar, iets wat ze bij Ferrari misschien net nodig hebben. "We werken ook op zo'n manier dat we weer magische tijden krijgen bij Ferrari. Wat we nodig hebben is hard werken, stabiliteit en de bereidheid om constant te verbeteren. Dat heeft niets met magie te maken!"

De in Lausanne geboren Italiaan lijkt goed op weg te zijn met Ferrari, na een matige eerste seizoenshelft. De Scuderia wist na een aantal jaar weer eens voor eigen publiek te winnen en dat doet het volk en de teambaas goed.

    Het is nu ineens allemaal hosanna maar voor dit jaar is het feest voor Ferrari toch echt voorbij. Ze hebben op de twee circuits die het meest geschikt zijn ,met grote moeite, gewonnen. Maar als je dan kijkt dat Mercedes daar al niet of nauwelijks langzamer wads dan is er weinig hoop dat Ferrari er nog aan de pas gaat komen de resterende races. Dan heb ik het nog niet over Red Bull die een beetje ongelukkig zijn geweest maar vanaf nu een reeks circuits krijgen waar zij juist goed kunnen presteren.

      Ja. Maar Ferrari komt wel met een reeks aerodynamische updates. Even afwachten wat daar uitkomt.

      Cherokee ; maar andere teams zitten ook niet stil. En dan is het altijd afwachten, hoe pakken updates uit.

      Feit is denk ik wel dat RBR de laatste seizoenen heeft laten zien het best zijn auto gaanderweg het seizoen te begrijpen, en waarbij updates het beste uit lijken te pakken.

      Al hoop ik het voor Ferrari hoor, want hoe meer strijd vooraan, des te beter! Ik heb genoten van afgelopen gp's.

      Over een dag of 12 is het weer voorbij, die euforie van Ferrari, worden ze afgebrand in de media vanwege de komende circuits. Plek 3 in een race wordt al lastig genoeg voor ze.

      Combinatie Coen brothers en John Turturro is altijd vet. The Big Lebowski ooit gezien met John in de rol van Jesus? Man man, wat een scene!! (ben weer goed off-topic aan 't gaan hier) --> Maar idd, lijkt sprekend op 't personage uit Barton Fink.

    Iedereen is gek aan het worden, twee races, waarvan twee van pole en gewonnen, beiden een beetje dubieus. en nu is Binotto ineens een tovenaar? Het was te verwachten dat Ferrari zou winnen met hun achterlijk hoge topsnelheid. Over een paar weken is Harry potter zijn magie kwijt, want dan wordt er niet meer gewonnen.

    Het jaar is in ieder geval voor het eergevoel gered met die twee zeges. Achter de schermen is Ferrari bezig met een grote reorganisatie en wellicht kunnen ze daar volgend jaar de vruchten van plukken. 2007 is te lang geleden.

    Ferrari was wel toe aan een paar overwinningen, deze waren ook verwacht, zoals het ook verwacht wordt dat ze er nu niet meer aan te pas komen voor 2019.
