Romain Grosjean weet niet wat crash tijdens tweede vrije training veroorzaakte

Romain Grosjean maakte vrijdagmiddag geen goede beurt door te crashen tijdens de tweede vrije training. De oorzaak van de crash is volgens de Haas F1-coureur nog onbekend en het team probeert het nu te achterhalen.

In de eerste vrije training stond Grosjean er goed voor met een zesde positie. Enkele uren later kon hij echter al na een kwartier in VT2 zijn overall uittrekken, nadat hij gecrasht was. Dat gebeurde in de snelle bochtensectie in de eerste sector op het Circuit of the Americas, dit weekend de gastheer van de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten. Daardoor eindigde hij de sessie op P18.

"Tussen VT1 en VT2 hebben we de afstelling veranderd en achteraf was de set-up daarna minder goed", verklaarde Grosjean na afloop van de training tegenover GPToday.net. De oorzaak van de crash heeft Haas F1 echter nog niet weten te achterhalen. "Eerlijk gezegd proberen we nog te begrijpen wat er gebeurde, omdat het niet iets is waar je controle over hebt."

"Er was volgens mij niet veel schade, alleen de voorvleugel en de wielophanging voor. De jongens doen hun best. Het is een beetje frustrerend dat we de tweede training verloren. Ik had graag gezien dat de auto meer aan de linkerkant uitkwam, zodat we de bandenstapels zouden missen. We zullen echter kijken naar wat Kevin gedaan heeft in de middag en teruggaan naar de afstelling van de ochtend, toen de auto erg goed voelde."

Grosjean heeft geen problemen met hobbels

Een belangrijk onderwerp van gesprek na de vrijdag in Austin waren de enorme hobbels in het wegdek. Die hobbels waren volgens Grosjean geen factor in zijn crash. "De ronde ervoor ging het prima en die ronde was zo ongeveer hetzelfde. De hobbels zijn er en ik vind ze best cool. Misschien is bocht 1 in de remzone wat te hobbelig en doet het wat pijn aan je rug. Op de rest van het circuit geeft het wat meer karakter aan de baan."

  Wordt ook moe van GROS. Ongelooflijk dat deze man er ook volgend jaar nog bij is. HAAS is in mijn ogen het meest conservatieve team op de grid. Ze durven op rijdersvlak totaal geen verandering door te voeren terwijl ze dat nieuwe inspiratie en meer competitiviteit kan brengen.

Toch k.t als je dat gebeurd en je weet (echt) niet wat de oorzaak is... Dat gezegd hebbende,, het is Grosjean, die twee jaar nodig had om aan zn remmen te wennen, waar bijna iedereen probleemloos mee rondreed had hij er elk raceweekend problemen mee... tja.... Verbaasd me echt nog steeds dat hij mocht bijteken bij Haas...

Daar gaan we weer, iedereen tegelijk Grosjean afbranden.

Romain is wel mooi degene die Haas op de kaart heeft gezet. Die zijn teamgenoot Gutierrez volledig om snot reed. En die Haas van begin af aan wees op het probleem met de 2019 wagen, terwijl Magnussen niks in de gaten leek te hebben.

Grosjean is van grote waarde voor Haas. Daarom nemen ze die goofball acties van hem op de koop toe.
