Bottas klaar met vragen over aanpak in 2020: "Ik ben ik en ik ben niet Nico Rosberg"

Valtteri Bottas is klaar met de vergelijkingen met Nico Rosberg. De Mercedes-coureur wordt moe van de vraag of hij in 2020 dezelfde psychologische spelletjes gaat spelen als zijn voorganger bij het team.

Voor het derde jaar op rij zag Bottas teamgenoot Lewis Hamilton de wereldtitel voor zich opeisen. De Fin won weliswaar de race in de Verenigde Staten, maar dat bleek niet voldoende om de titelstrijd in leven te houden. Hamilton sloot de race namelijk op P2 af, wat ruimschoots voldoende was om wereldtitel 6 te pakken. Bottas moet het dit jaar daardoor doen met de tweede positie in het kampioenschap.

Voorafgaand aan de Braziliaanse Grand Prix werd Bottas gevraagd of hij van plan is om in 2020 een psychologische oorlog te starten met Hamilton, net zoals Rosberg in 2016 deed toen hij de wereldtitel pakte. Bottas ontkent dat hij die tactiek zal gaan toepassen. "Heel eerlijk moet ik zeggen dat ik een beetje verveeld begin te raken van die vraag, omdat iedere coureur anders is. Ik ben ik en ik ben niet Nico."

"Natuurlijk heb ik altijd plannen en zoek ik verschillende manieren hoe ik mijn doel wil bereiken, wat uiteindelijk de wereldtitel is. Daarvoor moet ik mijn teamgenoot verslaan, maar ook veel andere coureurs. Ik heb er altijd de voorkeur aan gegeven om mijn rijden te laten spreken en als ik mijn prestaties en focus vast kan houden en al mijn energie in mijn eigen prestaties kan steken, dan werkt dat het beste voor mij."

"Zodra ik op andere vlakken energie verspil, haalt dat misschien mijn focus van het racen en dat wat er echt toe doet. Als ik op het niveau presteer dat ik wil hebben, dan zal dat voor irritatie zorgen aan de andere kant van de garage, en ik weet dat uit ervaring: het kan ertoe leiden dat je fouten gaat maken. Ik heb een plan voor volgend jaar, maar ik wil dat niet echt delen. We zullen het dus zien."

  Hoezo slecht de man wordt 2e in het wereldkampioenschap man, ook altijd is het gehel jaar al gegaan ja ferrari heeft de snelste auto, ik heb het niet gezien sorry hoor maar de mercedissen zijn altijd sneller geweest over het hele jaar door in de longruns en daar gaat het om niet die eene polepositie die je haalt met een ferrari, ik kijk meer naar de racepace

Laat me raden,
Bottas 3.0, met een weelderige haardos, puur om Hamilton met z’n invallende kaalslag te irriteren.

Continue op t podium z’n lange manen als ware t Hans Klok in t gezicht van Lewis te gooien, al dan niet met een monteur met zo’n bladblazer uit de koeling van Hamiltons wagen.
