Stewards bevestigen gridstraf van 10 plaatsen voor Charles Leclerc

Charles Leclerc zal de Grand Prix van Brazilië in ieder geval niet vanuit de top 10 starten. De stewards hebben bevestigd dat er een motorwissel plaatsvindt bij de Ferrari-coureur, wat hem 10 plaatsen gridstraf kost.

Voorafgaand aan het weekend kondigde teambaas Mattia Binotto van Ferrari al aan dat de motor van Leclerc vervangen zou worden en dat daar een gridstraf op zou komen te staan. De motorwissel was nodig, nadat de derde krachtbron van de Monegask tijdens de derde vrije training in de Verenigde Staten kapot ging door een olielek. In Austin reed hij de race daarom met een oudere spec 2-motor.

Die motor kon echter in Brazilië niet meer ingezet worden, waardoor er besloten is een nieuw exemplaar in de SF90 te monteren. Het gaat daarbij alleen om een nieuwe verbrandingsmotor, terwijl de hybride onderdelen, de turbo, de elektronica en de energieopslag wel behouden konden blijven.

Het is voor Leclerc de vierde verbrandingsmotor die hij in 2019 gaat inzetten en dat is een overtreding van het reglement van de Formule 1, dat voorschrijft dat er per seizoen drie verbrandingsmotoren gebruikt mogen worden. De zaak werd door de technisch gedelegeerde naar de stewards van de FIA doorverwezen, die hem volgens de regels bestraft hebben met een gridstraf van 10 posities. Een start vanuit de top 10 is dus uitgesloten voor Leclerc.

  Niet alle Max fans, er zijn er genoeg die deze mannen graag zij aan zij zien vechten. Maar goed dat is als ongenuanceerde troll denk ik niet helemaal te begrijpen laat staan dat je het in wilt zien.

  Goed lezen @Beetle: uit werkelijk niets blijkt dat ik me aangesproken voel. Sterker nog: het is niet zo! Jammer, hé?
  
  Maar zoals ik zei, reageer inhoudelijk en kom met voorbeelden, dan kunnen we een echte discussie voeren i.p.v. zomaar wat roepen.

Vettel volgt vast ook... Denk ik echt, dan kunnen ze ontkennen dat ze "vals" hebben gespeeld. Ben benieuwd, zou het wel een leuk politiek spel vinden, hoort erbij!
