Charles Leclerc pakt 'troostprijs' met meeste pole positions in 2019

Titels zijn er niet behaald in 2019 door Ferrari en Charles Leclerc, maar de Monegask heeft een kleine troostprijs weten te pakken: hij heeft de meeste pole positions in 2019 gepakt.

Leclerc had zich ongetwijfeld iets meer voorgesteld van zijn kwalificatie in Brazilië, waar hij genoegen moest nemen met de vierde positie. Vanaf die plek zal de Ferrari-coureur niet mogen vertrekken, omdat hij een gridstraf van 10 plaatsen heeft gekregen voor een motorwissel. Daarom start Leclerc de race op het Autodromo José Carlos Pace vanaf positie 14.

Max Verstappen eiste de pole position voor zich op in Brazilië. Dat is de tweede keer in zijn carrière en tevens de tweede keer in 2019 voor de Nederlander, die daarmee echter niet in de buurt komt van het aantal pole positions van Leclerc. De tweevoudig Grand Prix-winnaar stond liefst zeven keer op pole in 2019 en doordat Verstappen de pole pakte in Brazilië, is Leclerc er ook zeker van dat hij het seizoen afsluit met de meeste poles.

Valtteri Bottas was de enige coureur die in dat klassement nog een bedreiging kon vormen voor Leclerc, maar de Mercedes-coureur kwam niet verder dan de vijfde plaats in de kwalificatie. Hij blijft daardoor op vijf poles steken, twee minder dan de Ferrari-coureur. Omdat er alleen nog in Abu Dhabi een pole te verdelen is, zal Leclerc de troostprijs voor meeste pole positions winnen.

  Meer de Maaskant vh Leudal, zat meestal op of rond het water vroegah als klein menke. Tegenwoordig bivakkeer ik in het Westen voor ontwikkelingswerk ? Kom er nog vaak, blijft een van de mooiste stukjes Nederland.
