Massa hoopt Fernando Alonso ooit in Formule E te kunnen verwelkomen

Felipe Massa hoopt ooit een voormalig teamgenoot bij Ferrari te kunnen verwelkomen in de Formule E. De Braziliaan denkt dat Fernando Alonso misschien wel te porren is voor een avontuur in de elektrische raceklasse.

In de afgelopen jaren heeft Alonso zich getoond als een van de meest veelzijdige coureurs van het moment. De tweevoudig wereldkampioen in de Formule 1 nam in 2017 voor het eerst deel aan de Indianapolis 500 en werd in 2018 vervolgens ook actief in het World Endurance Championship. Hij won de titel en was ook twee keer de sterkste in de 24 uur van Le Mans.

Bovendien richtte Alonso zich in 2019 ook op avonturen als de 24 uur van Daytona en een nieuw, in dit geval mislukt avontuur bij de Indy 500. Begin 2020 doet de Spanjaard voor het eerst mee aan de Dakar Rally, waarop hij zich in de laatste maanden van 2019 heeft voorbereid. Wat Alonso nog niet geprobeerd heeft, is racen in de Formule E. Massa zou er niet raar van opkijken als hij in de toekomst alsnog een poging waagt.

"Het zal een geweldige ervaring voor hem zijn en ook iets heel anders voor alle fans", verklaarde Massa in gesprek met Soy Motor. "Het wordt erg lastig en het is een geweldige uitdaging voor iedere coureur, dus het zou geweldig zijn om hem daar te zien strijden."

'Alles is mogelijk met Alonso'

Massa acht het een realistischer scenario dat Alonso voor een avontuur in de Formule E kiest, dan dat hijzelf door Alonso naar Dakar gelokt wordt. "Ik zou Dakar niet doen, maar het wordt geweldig om hem daar te zien. Ik denk dat het voor mij makkelijker is om Alonso te overtuigen naar de Formule E te komen, dan dat hij mij overtuigt om Dakar te doen. Ik denk dat het mogelijk is dat Alonso in de toekomst naar de Formule E komt. Met Fernando is alles mogelijk."

  Alonso is geen teamspeler.
  Een kei van een racer, maar de aandacht moet naar hem gaan en nergens anders.
  En naar het schijnt kan iedereen winnen in F.E. :-)
