Calderon verwacht ook in 2020 bij Alfa Romeo te blijven

Tatiana Calderon racet in 2020 niet meer in het voorprogramma van de Formule 1. Toch verwacht de Colombiaanse dat haar contract met Alfa Romeo verlengd wordt.

De afgelopen twee seizoenen trad Calderon al op als testcoureur van Alfa Romeo, dat in 2018 nog door het leven ging als Sauber. Voor dat team was ze geregeld aanwezig bij races, maar ook nam ze een aantal keer plaats achter het stuur van een (aantal jaar oude) F1-bolide van het team. Calderons overeenkomst met Alfa Romeo liep aan het eind van 2019 af, maar zelf heeft ze goede hoop op een nieuwe overeenkomst.

"Dit jaar race ik in Japan in het Super Formula-kampioenschap, maar tegelijkertijd zal ik samen blijven werken met Alfa Romeo in de Formule 1", vertelde Calderon aan La Gazzetta dello Sport. Wel benadrukte ze dat de deal nog niet officieel tot stand is gekomen. "Ik ben trots op die samenwerking en ik verwacht dat het contract binnen een aantal weken verlengd wordt."

Na drie jaar in de GP3 Series en één seizoen in de Formule 2 vertrekt Calderon dus uit het voorprogramma van de Formule 1. Ze tekende onlangs een overeenkomst met ThreeBond Racing with Drago Corse voor een seizoen in de Super Formula en wordt daarmee de eerste vrouw in die klasse. Afgelopen jaar kende ze een teleurstellend seizoen in de Formule 2: ze scoorde als enige fulltime coureur geen enkel punt.

Op gebied van racen is ze niet bepaald indrukwekkend, dus ze zal wel weer andere kwaliteiten hebben...

  Ja eens. Puur omwille van haar geslacht mag ze rondlopen in de F1.
  Rare wereld die 21e eeuw. We worden steeds softer. Let maar op, straks komen er wetten en regels waarbij etniciteit of geslacht bepalen of je de baan mag hebben of niet, kwaliteit komt dan op het tweede plan.
  
  Er zijn al landen waar bijvoorbeeld het parlement minimaal 50% vrouw moet zijn.
  Nu mag van mij persoonlijk 100% van het parlement vrouw zijn maar dan wel op basis van kwaliteiten ipv wat er tussen je benen hangt of niet hangt.

  Er zijn duidelijke regels (25 super licentie punten) omtrent het mogen rijden van een vrije training op vrijdag morgen. Dat geldt voor elke coureur (m/v). Dus kwaliteit is al deels gewaarborgd.

P.s, lost van haar talent vind ik haar absoluut niet de knapste en wellicht als ze wat knapper was geweest zou ze meer kans maken op een zitje in de F1.

  @BrRacing.... sorry maar dat is grote onzin. Niemand maar ook niemand heeft ooit een F1 zitje gekregen omdat deze er mooi uit zou zien.
