Kevin Magnussen komt in 2020 voor het vierde jaar op rij uit voor Haas F1. Dat is een bewuste keuze voor de Deen, die aan de Deense krant BT vertelde dat hij ook aanbiedingen van andere teams heeft ontvangen.

Voorafgaand aan het seizoen 2017 stapte Magnussen van Renault over naar het Amerikaanse Haas F1, dat destijds net haar debuutseizoen achter de rug had. Daar kreeg de voormalig coureur van McLaren Romain Grosjean als teamgenoot en in 2020 begint Magnussen alweer aan zijn vierde seizoen naast de Fransman. Na het tegenvallende 2019 blijven beide coureurs Haas F1 dus trouw.

Voor Magnussen geldt dat hij wél andere opties had met het oog op 2020. "Ik heb inderdaad aanbiedingen gekregen", stelt de 27-jarige coureur. De keuze voor Haas F1 was echter snel gemaakt. "Haas was simpelweg de beste optie. Toen ik bij Renault reed, had ik het gevoel dat Haas heel erg achter mij aan zat. Ze deden het toen goed als nieuw team, dus ik nam de gok en daar heb ik geen spijt van."

Correlatieproblemen speelden Haas F1 parten

Zoals gezegd viel het seizoen 2019 tegen voor Haas F1, dat grote aerodynamische problemen kende met de VF-19. Dat resulteerde in uiteindelijk de negende plaats bij de constructeurs met 28 punten, waarvan Magnussen er 20 scoorde. Hij heeft er vertrouwen in dat zijn werkgever de zaak om kan draaien voor 2020 en ziet positieve signalen vanuit de windtunnel.

"Wat mij verteld is, is dat de auto van vorig jaar een bepaald aantal punten downforce leverde in de windtunnel, maar ook dat er een verschil zat tussen windtunnel en circuit. Het was een enorm verschil. Dit jaar hebben we duidelijk verbeterde downforcepunten, en we hebben gewerkt om het verschil tussen de getallen te verkleinen. Dus als dat werkt, ziet het er goed uit."

Dus hij heeft misschien wel aanbiedingen gehad, maar niet van F1 teams. Misschien dat ie FE/IndyCar aanbiedinen heeft ontvangen?

  Dat er iets niet aan de ontwikkeling deugde had Grosjean wel redelijk snel in de gaten dus die zal t m wel hebben ingefluisterd ?

Ik zou ook niet voor Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull, McLaren of Renault willen rijden..... Haas is de beste ;)

  Dat ze bij Red Bull Verstappen hebben vastgelegd en bij Ferrari Leclerc dat is uit pure armoede! Feitelijk wilde die teams Magnussen maar die koos ervoor om bij Haas te blijven....
  
  Vind Magnussen bij vlagen een aardige rijder, iets constanter dan Romain, kan soms lekker agressief racen en verdedigen, maar even zo vaak rijdt hij anoniem in de middenmoot. Interesse van andere teams daar geloof ik weinig van, of het moeten race teams uit andere klasses zijn

Ja als test/simcoureur misschien. Maak het nou maar niet mooier dan dat het is Kevin Magnussen.
Ik krijg soms ook wel eens aanbiedingen van Mercedes, BMW en Audi. Of ik interesse heb in een proefrit
in een van hun occasions wel te verstaan.
