Max Verstappen twee keer tweede in DSRC Spring Cup

Red Bull Racing-coureur Max Verstappen is begonnen aan een nieuw online kampioenschap. De Nederlander verscheen gisteravond aan de start van de eerste ronde van de DSRC Spring Cup, die opende met twee races op het circuit van Imola. Verstappen finishte beide wedstrijden als tweede, eerst in de sprintrace achter Maximilian Benecke en vervolgens in de hoofdrace achter Gianni Vecchio.

De deelnemers scheurden in GTE-bolides over het virtuele circuit van Imola. "Het is jammer van de eerste ronde", verwijst Verstappen op Verstappen.nl naar de eerste ronde van de hoofdrace, waarin hij na een tikje van Benecke in de rondte ging. "Maar om als tweede te finishen, is mooi. Max Benecke werd vierde maar was over het geheel genomen het snelste en Gianni Vecchio heeft de hoofdrace gewonnen, dus voor Team Redline was het een goed resultaat."

"Thuis op een simulator racen is misschien wel moeilijker voor mij dan in een echte auto, omdat ik daar veel meer ervaring mee heb. Imola is ook geen eenvoudig circuit. Toen ik er in de Formule 3 op reed, vond ik het al een mooie baan. Online met GTE-auto’s was ook erg cool."

Eerder schreef Verstappen de online 'Real Racers Never Quit'-competitie op zijn naam.
