Daniel Ricciardo: "Raadpleeg coureurs bij invullen kalender"

De internationale autosportbond FIA en de Formule 1-leiding moeten hun oor te luisteren leggen bij de coureurs. Dat is de mening van Renault-rijder Daniel Ricciardo. Achter de schermen zijn de nodige discussies gaande over hoe het seizoen eruit moet gaan zien en hoe de Formule 1 de jaargang 2020 nog kan redden. De coureurs zijn tot op heden niet geraadpleegd.

Daar snapt Ricciardo weinig van, zo laat de Australiër aan Canal Plus weten. "We hebben de rijdersvakbond GPDA waar vrijwel iedereen lid van is, daarmee kunnen we communiceren. Daar kunnen ze ons bereiken en vice versa. De GPDA biedt ons de kans om onze mening te ventileren en oplossingen te verzinnen. Ik denk bijvoorbeeld dat de coureurs wel te porren zijn voor tweedaagse raceweekenden in plaats van driedaagse om ruimte te scheppen voor meer races."

"Dat is volgens mij ook noodzakelijk als ze elke week een Grand Prix willen houden. Dan moet je wel naar een tweedaags weekend toe, anders is het niet te doen. Het is ook zaak om het logistiek logisch te maken, dus eerst een fase in Europa, dan naar het oosten van de wereld en vervolgens het westen. Tegen de tijd dat we zover zijn willen we allemaal dolgraag weer racen, zoveel is zeker."

      Nou ja, GPDA heeft ook een stem en zeker het recht om te zeggen wat ze ervan vinden. Het zal zeker niet beslissend zijn, maar je mag je mond open doen en laten weten wat de rijders er van denken.

    Wat voor meerwaarde heeft dit? De coureurs zijn uiteindelijke, heel cru gezegd, onopgeleide werknemers van de teams, de teams stemmen reeds af met de FOM en worden geleid door teambazen die zowel goed opgeleid zijn, alswel de leiding hebben over de honderden werknemers in teams, waaronder de coureurs.

    Wat wil een coureur dan in vredesnaam nog bijdragen wat zijn teambaas niet al lang en breed doet? Die tweedaagse weekenden zijn voor zover mij bekend al lang en breed onder beraad, bijvoorbeeld. De logistiek moet de teambaas regelen, niet de coureur, dus ook daar heeft Ricciardo's input geen meerwaarde?

    Wellicht verveelt Ricky zich een beetje daar in zijn appartementje in Monaco? Misschien even bij Max langs voor zijn oude simkit?

      In zijn appartementje in Monaco? Hij zit sinds de afgelaste race in Perth op een luxe, riante ranch en verveelt zich totaal niet gezien zijn social media.

    Wie gaat het betalen racen zonder publiek, en waar kan het met publiek, ergens in Juli zullen er denk meer antwoorden op deze vragen komen.
    Vele willen dat er geen evenementen komen, dus kan nog alle kanten op gaan. Voor de rest wel leuke tijdsvulling het erover hebben, maar heeft totaal geen zin.

      Met publiek lijkt mij vrij onrealistisch tot er een vaccin is, als we het hebben over het opofferen van mensenlevens zodat Jan-met-de-pet naar een autorace of een muziekfestival kan, dan lijkt me dat onverdedigbaar door welke politiek leider dan ook.

      Als je vraagt wie het gaat betalen als er geraced wordt zonder publiek? De FOM en de FIA, natuurlijk. Die moeten gaan kiezen of ze die kosten willen dragen om de teams en sport te redden van een potentiële ramp, en aangezien ze daar voor het toekomstperspectief wel baat bij hebben, lijkt me dat een pil die te slikken valt.

      De tijd zal het inderdaad leren, maar ik denk dat, zodra het mogelijk is om weer te reizen binnen tenminste de EU, er hoe dan ook races gaan gebeuren zonder publiek. Niet racen dit jaar gaat ons verschillende teams kosten, in ieder geval, dus dat lijkt haast geen optie. Racen met publiek valt onder grote evenementen en de kans dat dat dit jaar weer toegestaan wordt is vrij klein, dus dat lijkt ook geen optie.

      Ik denk dat als je nu gaat racen je genoeg aan tv gelden kan ophalen om het circuit te betalen. Er is werkelijk helemaal niks op tv dus zo'n race zal genoeg mensen boeien.

      Als dat de nieuwe norm wordt dan kan er dus nooit meer iets georganiseerd worden want dan moet je ook bij elke jaarlijkse griepvirus uitbraak etc de hele wereld platleggen, daar gaan immers ook elk jaar duizenden mensen al dan niet zogenaamd onnodig aan dood omdat we elkaar allemaal aansteken.. Laten we wel alles in het juiste perspectief blijven zien en rationeel blijven nadenken aub!

    De coureurs moeten zich allemaal (in dit specifieke geval) gewoon hun niet bemoeien met wat de FIA, FOM, LM en de lokale autoriteiten/gezondheidsorganisaties allemaal bespreken achter de schermen. Het loopt nu al over (te) veel schijven, dat het beter is dat de coureurs vwb formats en een eventuele kalender gewoon hun schijf houden ;)

    Dat heeft geen zin, want dan krijg je weer 22 verschillende meningen erbij.. Het heeft geen enkele toegevoegde waarde.. Alleen de FIA en FOM gaan hierover, al dan niet in overleg met de teams.. en ook die moeten eerst gewoon afwachten wat en wanneer overheden evenementen als F1 races weer toestaan, want tot die tijd heeft iets plannen toch totaal geen zin..

    Niet aan beginnen. Er zijn 20 coureurs. Er is er altijd wel een die niet kan dat weekend. Dan heeft er weer een een verjaardag, dan moet er weer een kind afzwemmen, altijd wat.

    Ik zie het in mijn eigen vriendengroep ook als we weer eens een etentje en/of stapavond willen plannen. Nu voorstellen is over 3 maanden zuipen en dan wonen we nog allemaal in Nederland ook.

    Dus, gewoon plannen en dan zorgen ze maar dat ze er zijn.
