Coulthard: "Albon heeft een van de moeilijkste stoeltjes in F1"

Oud Formule 1-coureur David Coulthard heeft het afgelopen jaar veel respect gekregen voor Alexander Albon. De Thai debuteerde namens Scuderia Toro Rosso in de Formule 1 en deed het dusdanig naar behoren dat hij halverwege het seizoen promotie naar Red Bull Racing afdwong. Daar hield hij zich beter staande naast Max Verstappen dan zijn voorganger Pierre Gasly deed.

En dat is bepaald geen makkelijke opgave, weet Coulthard. "Alexander Albon is een fantastische coureur, met veel doorzettingsvermogen. Hij heeft een van de moeilijkste stoeltjes in de Formule 1 in zijn bezit, namelijk eentje naast die van Max Verstappen. En Max is een groot talent, een pure winnaar die het team van Red Bull Racing tot in detail kent", zei de Schot op Instagram.

Het is even afwachten hoe de onderlinge strijd tussen Max Verstappen en Alexander Albon dit jaar zal verlopen. De eerste negen races van het seizoen 2020 moesten reeds wijken voor het coronavirus en het is de vraag of en wanneer deze Grands Prix ingehaald kunnen worden.
