Pedro de la Rosa: "Mensen hebben Formule 1-races nodig"

De Formule 1 moet niet te veel treuzelen met het opstarten van het seizoen 2020. De mensen thuis snakken naar vermaak door middel van Grands Prix, verklaarde oud-coureur Pedro de la Rosa in Diario Sport. De jaargang 2020 had inmiddels al enige tijd onderweg moeten zijn, maar door de uitbraak van het coronavirus zijn de eerste tien evenementen reeds uitgesteld of afgelast.

De la Rosa bespeurt her en der een groot verlangen om weer van Formule 1-races te kunnen genieten. "Beetje bij beetje moet de wereld weer open gaan", begint de Spanjaard. "Het is zaak om te begrijpen dat we op een veilige manier terug moeten keren naar een normale situatie, zeker als het aantal besmette personen en dodelijke slachtoffers blijft afnemen. De Formule 1 heeft een morele plicht om de mensen thuis te vermaken en de fans hunkeren naar races."

Desnoods dan maar met Grands Prix waar geen toeschouwers bij aanwezig zijn. De la Rosa vervolgt: "Zelfs racen zonder publiek is beter dan helemaal niet racen. De Formule 1 zou zo snel mogelijk moeten beginnen met races in Europa, ze moeten snel handelen. De mensen hebben het nodig, het draait niet alleen om de overlevingskansen voor de teams. Niet alleen economische aspecten spelen hierbij een rol, maar zoveel meer."

De Formule 1 is van plan om het seizoen 2020 op 5 juli op gang te brengen met de Grand Prix van Oostenrijk. In de weken die volgen zullen de races elkaar in rap tempo opvolgen, mogelijk zelfs met midweekse wedstrijden.

Ik denk meer dat mensen gewoon vertier nodig hebben. Ik zit al te stuiteren als ik aan komende zaterdag denk, want dan wordt de Bundesliga hervat...

  Zelfs die is beter om te kijken dan simraces......
  
  Ik was een paar weken geleden aan het zappen, zie ik ineens een simrace van een Formule-E race voorbij komen. Slechte graphics, alleen gezoem.
  Die vond ik wel heel triest om te zien, heb deze dus ook maar na pakweg 3 minuten verlaten om een Netflix serie op te zetten.
