Steiner: "Onze coureurs hebben geen test nodig"

Haas zal niet het voorbeeld van andere Formule 1-teams volgen door te gaan testen als voorbereiding op de Oostenrijkse Grand Prix van volgende week. Mercedes, Renault en Racing Point zijn al de baan opgegaan ter voorbereiding op de eerste races, Alpha Tauri staat momenteel in de garage in Imola en Red Bull is van plan donderdag op Silverstone te rijden.

Ferrari reed dinsdag met Sebastian Vettel en Charles Leclerc in Mugello een twee jaar oude auto. Sebastian Vettel was blij om weer te kunnen rijden: "Het was geweldig om die gevoelens weer uit een auto te halen en dat te doen op zo'n spectaculaire baan. Ik denk echt dat Mugello het verdient om een Grand Prix te organiseren."

Coureurs hebben test niet nodig

Haas heeft echter geen plannen om voor Oostenrijk te gaan testen. Tegenover Corriere dello Sport zegt Steiner dat zijn coureurs het niet nodig hebben: "Ik denk niet dat onze coureurs het nodig hebben om te kunnen testen. Het zou zeker leuk voor ze zijn, maar voor ons is dat op dit moment geen prioriteit."

Het is vrijwel zeker een puur financiële beslissing, aangezien Williams, McLaren en Alfa Romeo tot de groep behoort die ook niet zullen gaan testen. Juist deze teams hebben op dit moment allemaal financiële problemen.

Klein voordeel

De coureurs van McLaren kozen ervoor om vorige week in Formule 3-auto's van het Carlin-team te rijden. Steiner denkt niet dat ze dit een groot voordeel op zal leveren. "Misschien hebben degenen die hebben getest een klein voordeel, dat zal ik niet ontkennen. Maar het zal niet enorm zijn. We hebben de nieuwe regels voor sociale afstanden in onze fabriek toegepast en dus zijn we er klaar voor."

"Als je over de financiële middelen beschikt om privétests te doen, is dat normaal, maar ik ben kalm, we bereiden ons zo goed mogelijk voor en ik weet zeker dat we ons best zullen doen in Oostenrijk", voegde hij eraan toe.

Het moment dat je bij het woord 'test' gelijk aan een coronatest denkt, is het moment dat het hoog tijd wordt dat we weer gaan racen..

  Ik dacht ook meteen aan coronatest. Maar dat kom ook de het artikel hieronder "10.000 coronatest beschikbaar" en dan Stijner: onze coureurs hebben geen test nodig.

  Mijn eerste gedachten gingen met deze titel direct uit naar Grosjean. Die heeft idd geen test nodig, veel beter presteren gaat hij er toch niet door.

Er is ook geen risico voor Haas dat door de restricties de pitstops moeilijker gaan. Die gingen toch al moeilijk. Kan eigenlijk alleen maar beter

Nee, de coureurs zijn ook zonder testen prima in staat op hun auto in de muur of in de auto van een collega te parkeren. Dus beter de onderdelen bewaren tot de race....
