Alex Zanardi na derde operatie terug op intensive care

Alex Zanardi heeft een derde operatie aan zijn hoofd en verwondingen aan zijn gezicht ondergaan die hij vorige maand heeft opgelopen. Het Santa Maria alle Scotte-ziekenhuis in Siena bevestigde dat de 53-jarige vijf uur lang geopereerd was gericht op een schedel-gezichtsreconstructie en stabilisatie van de door het trauma getroffen gebied, na zijn crash op 19 juni. Zanardi kwam in botsing met een vrachtwagen tijdens een handbike-evenement op de openbare weg.

De directeur van de kaakchirurgie van het ziekenhuis, professor Paolo Gennaro, zei dat de fracturen van Zanardi 'complex' waren. "Dit vereiste zorgvuldige programmering waarbij gebruik werd gemaakt van geautomatiseerde, digitale en driedimensionale technologieën die op maat werden gemaakt voor de patiënt", voegde hij eraan toe. "De complexiteit van de zaak was nogal bijzonder, ook al is het een soort breuk waarmee we routinematig in ons centrum worden geconfronteerd."

Zanardi's toestand is verder ongewijzigd, meldde het ziekenhuis. Zijn neurologische toestand is ernstig en hij blijft verdoofd op een mechanische ventilator op de ICU. Zijn prognose is vertrouwelijk en verdere updates zullen alleen worden verstrekt in het geval van significante veranderingen in zijn toestand.

Ferrari bracht een eerbetoon aan de ex-F1-coureur, tweevoudig C ART IndyCar-kampioen en viervoudig Paralymic-gouden medaillewinnaar in de Oostenrijkse Grand Prix van afgelopen weekend, door op haar wagens te race met de boodschap ‘Forza Alex’.

Brrrrr, alleen al die tekst ,schedel en gezicht reconstructie’ is genoeg om je te laten gruwelen .. Hoeveel ellende kan iemand hebben , wat een pechvogel .. En ik vond/vind het al zo,n held ,maar afwachten of en hoe hij hier weer uitkomt...
