Crash Ricciardo zorgt voor gekneusde knie en tweede ziekenhuisbezoek

De enige klachten van Daniel Ricciardo na zijn snelle crash in de tweede vrije training op vrijdag waren een gekneusde knie en een beschuldigende vinger naar zichzelf. De Renault-coureur verloor vroeg in de middagsessie de controle over zijn Renault toen hij waarschijnlijk met te veel snelheid bocht 9 inging, spinde en met een crash in de bandenstapels tot stilstand kwam.

Terwijl zijn RS20 met flinke schade aan de achterkant uit de crash kwam bezocht de Australiër het medisch centrum waar artsen hem goed verklaarden, behalve een gekneusde knie.

Daniel Ricciardo zegt hierover: "Toen ik crashte tikte mijn knie tegen de stuurkolom, dus een beetje gekneusd. Ze hebben het nagekeken, het is letterlijk gewoon een blauwe plek. Alles is goed. Het gaat goed met me, maar de auto was behoorlijk kapot."

Uit de gegevensanalyse van Renault van de crash kwamen geen afwijkingen naar voren met de auto, hoewel het vermoeden bestaat dat een plotselinge windstoot een factor kan zijn geweest bij de crash die anders was bestempeld als een simpele fout van de coureur.

Extra bezoek

Renault heeft bekend gemaakt dat Daniel Ricciardo vanochtend echter voor de tweede keer het medical centre heeft bezocht. Het lokale ziekenhuis op het circuit heeft zijn knie nogmaals geïnspecteerd en geen verdere blessures gevonden, waardoor hij gewoon vandaag kan racen voor Renault.

Eerst zijn neus gestoten door bij Renault te tekenen en nu zijn knie door in de Renault te rijden. Het moet toch niet gekker worden.
