Carlos Sainz onloopt gridstraf doordat blauwe vlag defect was

Tijdens de kwalificatie gisteren was het Carlos Sainz die Antonio Giovinazzi ophield. De Italiaan klaagde over de boordradio en in beeld kwam te staan dat het incident nader onderzocht zou worden.

De Spanjaard in de McLaren komt echter goed weg, zo blijkt achteraf. Giovinazzi kon zijn ronde niet afmaken en zal morgen als negentiende moeten starten. Sainz heeft een goed excuus waarom hij hem ophield. Volgens de een verklaring van de stewards van de race werden de blauwe vlaggen wel getoond maar de digitale signalering van de blauwe vlaggen werkten niet.

Daardoor wordt Sainz geen gridstraf opgelegd en zal hij gewoon vanaf de negende plaats kunnen starten. Bekijk hieronder de video van het incident:
