F1 Podcast: "Dominantie Mercedes nog niet voorbij"

Lucas Degen, Jeroen Demmendaal, Charrel Jalving en Jeroen Scholte blikken in hun Formule 1 Podcast terug op de briljante overwinning van Max Verstappen afgelopen weekend tijdens de 'F1 70th Anniversary Grand Prix' op Silverstone. De mannen kijken terug op de race van afgelopen zondag, maar er wordt ook een blik op de toekomst geworpen.

Waar zo'n beetje de gehele wereld vreesde voor wederom een saaie optocht waarin de superioriteit van Merecdes weer zou worden onderstreept, zagen ook de heren aan de podcasttafel een onverwachts grootse overwinning van Max Verstappen en Red Bull Racing.

De titelkansen van Max lijken toegenomen, nu blijkt dat de Mercedes in tropische omstandigheden een enorme slijtage veroorzaakt aan het rubber van Pirelli.

'Mercedes blijft het team-to-beat'

Maar dat betekent nog niet dat de dominantie van Mercedes voorbij is, denken de heren. "Het is aannemelijker dat Max Verstappen een aantal keren voor Bottas eindigt, dan dat hij een aantal keren voor Hamilton eindigt," klinkt het in de podcast. "Max is degene die achter Mercedes alle punten gaat oppakken," vult de ander aan. En: "Het zou mij niet verbazen als Mercedes drie keer zo hard terug slaat in Barcelona," voorspelt de derde.

Ook denkt men dat het lek bij Red Bull nog niet boven is: "De snelheid bij Red Bull is er gewoonweg nog niet. Max moet nog iedere keer teveel compenseren," aldus de verwachting van de F1 liefhebbers in de podcast.

Als deze voorspellingen ook maar deels gaan uitkomen, belooft dat weinig goeds voor diegenen die hopen op een spannend vervolg van het F1-seizoen. Met nog zeker tien Grands Prix te gaan staat Max Verstappen voorlopig 30 punten achter op Lewis Hamilton in de tussentijdse WK-stand.

Nop, gewoon 2020.. Misschien geen risico op de baan, maar wel risico met de banden door te blijven pushen en Mercedes op te jagen. Dat kan slecht aflopen qua eigen banden en dan eindig je op P3 als het meezit. Maar de fijngevoeligheid van Max met de banden was magistraal. Dus ik zou deze overwinn... [Lees verder]

Het 3 tal heeft zeker de race van 2019 besproken??Zag Max toch echt heel makkelijk winnen zonder maar enig risico te nemen.

Dus ik zou deze overwinning niet "heel makkelijk" willen noemen, hij heeft echt het maximale eruit gehaald.

de titel nodigt wel uit om ff een uurtje te gaan luisteren. Ik dacht dat je met dit weer juist (open) deuren gesloten moest houden.

Mercedes zal ook dit jaar beide titels winnen , maar Max kan er af en toe wel een echte wedstrijd van maken en dat kan ik alleen maar toejuichen

Dat Max dit weekend won heeft volgens mij ook met het circuit te maken. In Hongarije was het ook vrij warm en daar was Mercedes ook dominant. Er zullen waarschijnlijk een aantal circuits zijn waar de Mercedes het niet zo goed doet en Max kans heeft. Maar zelfs dan wordt het spannend. Kijk gewoon vorig weekend weekend waar Hamilton als hij Leclerq en Bottas niet voorbij moest, hij nog een kans had gehad om een een aanval te wagen op Max.

  Ik denk dat het vooral te maken heeft welke banden Pirelli meeneemt naar het circuit. Mercedes zal de meest harde banden willen en dat is een beetje wat Pirelli ook wilt en Red Bull wilt zachtere banden. Wellicht is de ophanging van Red Bull niet agressief genoeg om alles uit de banden te krijgen waardoor die normaal te koud zijn en nu op de juiste temperatuur, terwijl ze juist nu bij Mercedes over verhitte.

Voor Mercedes uit de racerij stapten na hun verschrikkelijk ongeluk op LeMans, waren zij ook al steeds de te kloppen favoriet. Eigen aan het merk, eigen aan het volk, .. wie zal het zeggen. Feit is dat die gründlichkeit nog steeds aanwezig is.. Ook in de volgende formule gaan ze weer aan de top, .. merk dir meine Worte.
